This place was INCREDIBLE and well worth the Michelin hype. We ate at the bar where the bartenders crafted memorable drinks, made perfect menu suggestions and explained how these delicacies were made. Every dish was familiar, but the best version of that thing. The sweet potato was actually the most perfect fish sandwich! The ham sandwich was like the best parts of bacon with no fat. The sugar toads were like delicate fish chicken wings and completely special. This made my entire trip and night out with an old friend memorable. Will brave the sketchy alley again! Unfortunately, my fiancé and I had reservations with our dear friends (4 of us). I was under the weather but was able to make it to dinner. I had no appetite and was barely able to hold down unsweet tea. I was forced to pay my seat although I did not consume the food. This is very unfortunate as we are regular customers dining several times per year. We will not be back and do not recommend this restaurant due to very poor customer service. By the grace of God, you are unexpectedly diagnosed with COVID — this restaurant is not understanding. You mine as well come to the restaurant and spread COVID as they will not be understanding! Did the bar menu which is completely separate from the seated tasting menu it’s a wonderful experience. I’ve been several times and the bar service is some of the best in the country. You have the conversation of being at the bar but the high quality service of fine dining. We were in Washington and I made a list of restaurants and this was one of them! My husband made the reservation and I asked him to call and ask about our baby daughter and he did and got this response: you can bring your baby, but if she starts making noise you will have to leave!!! For a Michelin-starred restaurant, this response was insulting to us, before they had only said “no” to babies! Therefore, babies and children are not welcome in this restaurant! Sat at the bar for some quick bites. The fennel sour mocktail and sweet potato roll (catfish slider) was fantastic. The raddichio was a bit heavy in sauces, and the pork rib skewer was also a bit too sweet tasted like korean marinated pork, not too elevated. Good overall.
