The Dabney - Reservar una mesa

I came to DC over the summer for some sightseeing and some general celebration of my birthday. I ranked all of the restaurants in town using an algorithm/decision-making-tree that I came up with. And The Dabney popped up as one of the premier must-go places. So I made my reservations and showed up on time and got seated in the very beautiful main dining area. We had the perfect view of the open kitchen right next us, so we got to watch the well-oiled machine the entire time. So many tables going through course after course, a guy with a dry erase board keeping track of all the moving pieces, all the meats seemingly being cooked with only wood and fire. We were so excited to get a reservation at The Dabney. We were seated just a table from the counter where the chef worked and it was perfect. The night we went the focus was on a local pork farmer and seasonal crab. Each course was delicious. I could have done without the scrapple course but that is a personal preference. The staff was all kind and knowledgeable. We will defiantly return. The sommelier was so knowledgeable and listened to what we liked and picked wonderful choice for each of us. We will return!

Did the bar menu which is completely separate from the seated tasting menu… it’s a wonderful experience. I’ve been several times and the bar service is some of the best in the country. You have the conversation of being at the bar but the high quality service of fine dining. This last time was a little off on food timing but the bartender was kinda new and it still was an excellent experience.

Wow. What an incredible experience. I did the tasting experience and it lived up to the hype. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable and are on top of everything. And the food is exquisite. Truly a delight. I was doing little happy dances throughout the meal. And many of the courses somehow surprise you with the flavors. Some kind of magic happening in that kitchen!

Hannah was a phenomenal bartender. Cocktails were executed perfectly and is what you’d expect at a 5 star spot. Cannot recommend enough. Hope Frank has a great Saturday.
