during a visit to buxton we decided to dive for a family dinner on the cold, humid, nebulous December night. last day I called the duke of york to book the table and confirm the opening times. when entering the restaurant there was a warm reception in an irradiated dining room with enclosed wood burner that provided a nice warmth. tische put meters apart for social distancing. the service was friendly and competent via menu points with information about local content and suppliers. the meal was served in a timely manner and allowed a cozy culinary experience. the food was well presented, hot and tasty. a very pleasant experience. I would recommend the duke of york for a meal for anyone looking for a family dinner.

stay on the campsite for nights and booked in both evenings to eat. probably would not have gone to pub again in the second night if there had been an alternative place to eat. we did not find the personal very friendly and. do not think that we were smiling from the dame behind the bar, the pub lacked in any kind of atmosphere there was background music on in the small it area we sat, but it was so low and tables so close together that we could hear all the talk. Eating was okay, but simple and quite expensive for what it was. also many street noises in the night of passing cars.

I and my wife were on a local camping site in our home mobile so chose the duke of york as it was piering easy to foot. we arrived at the pub and were shown in a next room they used to eat. the room had other couples in, but no real atmosphere, not our choice, as we like picturesque bars etc. but we ordered our food and drinks. the service was excellent and the food was great. the house made steak and ale cake was excellent with rich gravy obviously made from warehouse etc. we would have no problems with the recommendation of this place, but would eat better in the bar area.

we had difficulty eating somewhere and hitting through the fall of york. the dame behind the bar was extremely friendly, courteous and chatting to ask us where we were from, what we plan to do during our visit, etc. she was really...beautiful and even helped us to choose the best gin from her extensive selection! eating was also fantastic with generous portions. I would also recommend the sticky toffee pudding for desert, it was great! the pub is also dog-friendly, which was a bonus for us. will definitely be back to visit if in the opposite.
