The Ellington building itself is a great building with renovated units and a large rooftop patio area that has a designated for area. 4 grills on the roof make it great for the summer and the gym is well equipped and large.Main point for moving out of the building is the area (U St) which is no fault of the management companies. Area is very lively and loud on Friday and Saturday nights with crime increasing over the last year. Fall 2021 multiple bullets came into the buildings lobby and someone had been shot right outside front door. People ride ATVs and motorcycles late at night on weekends and they are very loud.Management company has been slow to communicate with residents about incident...
I went to this restaurant last night and had a fantastic experience! It was a cozy speakeasy with wonderful staff. Our bartender was very knowledgeable and helped us choose drinks that we would enjoy. The cocktails were perfectly balanced and reasonably priced. The ambiance was incredible - walking through a brick door into an underground bourbon room style space with dim lighting and a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for hanging out with friends or a significant other. Parking was a challenge since it was located on U Street, but the metro stop was nearby. I would highly recommend this place overall!
The Ellington is a fabulous community to be a part of. The staff is warm and friendly, and always attentive and committed to helping with what I need. The location of the building is prime, right by the metro. While that causes some noise at night, the amenities and units in the building help offset this. I have really enjoyed my experience so far at The Ellington, especially the community events!
There was no food available at this speakeasy, as we expected. The cocktails were not very good, and there were no prices listed on the menu. When we received the bill, we found that the four cocktails we had ordered were in the $16-17 range, which is typical. Overall, we found the cocktails to be average at best. We were disappointed, as we had expected better from a speakeasy.

If you want a mediocre living experience at luxury prices, live at the Ellington on U Street. I encountered too many maintenance issues and too many problems from management. Save yourself the headache ..., and spend your money elsewhere.
Their happy hour deals are the best! The staff is so awesome and really makes it a point to whip up creative and fun drinks. Carlos the manager is so friendly and makes stopping by worth it!
Amazing drinks and cozy atmosphere! Perfect for a romantic night out. I will definitely come back and recommend to all my friends that this place serves the best espresso martini in DC.
Drinks not worth the price. Didn’t get the complete drink (left out smoke bubble from Cloak and Dagger drink that was advertised). 20% automatic tip applied to the bill.

This place is awesome. The only thing that would make it perfect are small bites to have with your drinks!
