The Flying Harpoon 2

My sister and I decided to stop at this place thinking it's just another seafood place. Well it's not it authentic New Orleans food. We split a 9' crab and crawfish cake po boy. It comes fully dressed with remoulade sauce on the side. We have never tasted a crab cake so amazing in our lives and we grew up around real Cajun cooking. We loved it so much that we made to go orders for our family back at home. Not to mention they make their own potato chips. Make this place a must eat when you visit orange beach you will not regret it.

The closest restaurant to our rented vacation house near Gulf Shores, Alabama was The Flying Harpoon 2. One day during our stay my family and I stopped here for lunch after a bike ride. We arrived right at their 11 A.M. opening time. In fact, a friendly employee had to unlock the front door to let us in. He took the time to show us around the space and even took us out back to see the alligator and turtles that call the back pond home.

Fun dive bar! I don't personally enjoy raw oysters, but the staff shucks them at the bar--so they are fresh! We had po-boys. The roast beef was unbelievable-melts in your mouth! The flounder and shrimp were also delicious. The live music was also good! We rode bikes from Gulf State Park. Everyone left happy!

Don't let the looks fool you. This place is old school classic shore line eatery. Good drinks, good food, good fun. If you order the full Flounder basket you better be hungry. Fried shrimp and oyster basket was great. Coleslaw is tangy and home made chips are awesome. Full 5 stars from me.

Was good. Unique little place. Food is made fresh from scratch so it takes awhile to get your food. Good service too.
