The pub has a charming appearance and it's great that they allow dogs. However, the food was disappointing. The Sunday menu was limited, with only a choice of roast or fish and chips for mains. We decided on a sandwich but it was missing some ingredients and the bread was dry. When we asked about the missing parts, they were brought out in a small dish and looked like scraps. The roast pork sandwich had only 2 slices, which were mainly fat and not edible. No one came to see how we were doing during our meal. The gravy strangely tasted like baked beans. It's unfortunate to leave a negative review, but our experience was a letdown. I'd recommend stopping by for a drink instead.
My companions and I dined at this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon and ordered the brisket sandwich, which was delicious. We decided to change seats in order to distance ourselves from a family with a dog, hoping to not be surrounded by dogs while eating. Unfortunately, there were still three customers with dogs near us. Although we don't mind dogs, we prefer not to have them right next to us during a meal. We were disappointed to not see a designated dog-free area in the restaurant. In my opinion, every pub should have one.
Ordered 1 pork, stuffing wrapped in bacon sandwich . No stuffing, no bacon , and it wasn’t hidden under the one thin opaque slice of pork that couldn’t even pop out of the side of the sandwich .Only buttered on one side , with a smidgen of apple sauce that didn’t reach the edge of so called sandwich .Also ordered 1 beef sandwich pretty much the same . Chips are ok though .
We visited this evening for the first time for a meal. Been to the Flying Pig many times for a drink but decided to book for dinner. Excellent meal. We had rotisserie chicken which was delicious. My husband had Apple pie and I had sticky toffee pudding, both were great. Huge portions. Would definitely recommend. Hope to return soon.

If you like your food bland or microwaved to its last legs this is the place for you.My wife actually burned her mouth on a oppenheimer inspired lasagne and if it wasnt for salt and vinegar i wouldnt know i was eating fish n chips.Go to Tesco Express instead and save yourself some money on a meal deal !!!!
The restaurant was bustling, but the staff were very accommodating and courteous. The food was delicious and the service was prompt. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area again. They have a great variety of drinks and snacks and also welcome dogs.
We called in for lunch yesterday it was cold raining out and they had chairs next to the fire free. Lovely cosy pub we had lunch here and it was lovely we had hot toddys aswell best hot toddys and food we had whilst staying for the weekend
Went for our lunch. We both had the half chicken. We both enjoyed our meal. Also washed it down with a few pail ales. It is dog friendly. They leave dog treats out. Which are dog enjoyed. Would definitely return

Found a table and turned away as we hadn’t decided at that point whether we wanted food or not. Waitress very unfriendly and pretentious Unfortunately very symbolic of the other places these guys run in Bowness
