This pub was wonderful. We were in Dartmoor on a difficult day, scattering our friend's ashes. We were all trying to find a way to make our day feel normal and lift our spirits. When we stumbled upon this pub, we sat outside and ordered some pints and cheesy chips. It was a strange day, but then something unexpected happened - a sausage was suddenly thrust through the window on a pair of tongs in front of my sister. We all burst out laughing, and even on the toughest day of our lives, we had a great time because the woman in the kitchen lightened the mood by serving us treats one by one on tongs. Stayed here last night for a wedding we attended nearby. Wish we'd known how glorious the area was we'd have booked for longer! Paddy didn't mind us checking in late (10pm ish as we didn't want to leave the wedding and go back. The room was comfy, clean and well maintained. Bathroom was lovely and Netflix worked (sounds bizarre and shouldn't be a priority, I know, but we wanted to wind down before we fell asleep and we've never had Netflix actually work at accommodation before! The room was stocked well with hot drinks biscuits (again a weird priority but at 35 weeks pregnant a midnight cuppa and a biscuit is a god send We slept really well as it was lovely and quiet. Unexpectedly good food cooked by an amazing and very charming landlady. The pub is under new ownership as of a few weeks ago so previous bad reviews clearly don’t apply. There is plenty of GF meals and desserts all home made. The vegetarian options are also very good and there is plenty to choose from. The building needs a bit of TLC but that will come in due course. Well done to the new owner for creating such a comprehensive menu. What we had was delicious! Will return!

Visited the forest inn for 2 nights really lovely place richard excellent host behind bar makes you feel really welcome and loves talking to my hubby about chess paddy also very welcoming and does a good job with the b@b rooms clean and comfy in fact all staff exellent Reserva una mesa ahora

Seven of us came for dinner and we were greeted with great accommodation and friendliness. The special Savory Eton Mess was a hit and the vegetarian option was delicious. The local beer was also really enjoyed by all of us.

Here for a few days to celebrate a birthday. Having been to the Forest Inn previously. So improved now with Kerrie as our Chef, excellent food , lovely staff with Paddy, Richard and Sandra, who make you feel so welcome.

The food was fantastic and the staff was exceptional! I'm already looking forward to returning next month. The restaurant was clean and had a welcoming atmosphere. Plus, they are dog-friendly.

Cracking B&B in the middle of Dartmoor. Very comfortable rooms and some lovely food. Not to mention the West Dart river, wild swimming, and wild trout fishing.
