We were really looking forward to trying this place since we've seen several locations around town. Finally, we decided to grab two chais as we left South Tahoe. Unfortunately, it must have been a bad batch, as both chais were so heavily flavored with clove that even just a small sip left our mouths and tongues feeling numb. We made a few attempts to get used to the taste, but it was just too overwhelming. We sampled the original chai and the maté version, which seemed excessively sweet—perhaps they added syrup or something—yet they both had the same numbing effect. Ultimately, we had to dispose of them, so it felt like a waste of money. I can't comment on their coffee or other menu items.
I just love the Smoothies at Freebird. I've visited every time I go to Lake Tahoe. This last time that I went I was very hungry and on vacation and saw some very delicious looking pastries and a basket for sale. I told the person behind the counter that I was vegan but then I was going to make an exception because the pastries looked too good. She actually stopped me from purchasing the item and told me she would make me something vegan. She then made me a delicious treat by hand from scratch. She gave it to me without charge. I found it on the menu later and it cost $2.50. They have love for vegans here and delicious great healthy smoothies.

If you're seeking an authentic local spot, this is the place to be! I visited from out of town and was drawn in by the homemade chai, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The flavor is a perfect blend of earthy sweetness and spice—truly exceptional. If you're a fan of overly sweet chai made with syrups and powders, this isn't the right place for you. Establishments like this are what enrich a community, and my experience couldn't have been better. There's so much care put into this small but impressive spot. I ended up stopping by three times in just two days! I highly recommend it and can't wait to return!

The best coffee I've had in ages!!! The pot pies were amazing too, everything was so delicious and we were in and out of there in no time. Very cute atmosphere and friendly staff. Smelled like homemade chai when we walked in, and they use all organic dairy for the coffee drinks. We will be back for sure!
nice, tiny and reverent place. immediately welcomed by two friendly staff who were more than happy to meet vegan needs. I have the fruity power bowl and my man has the hemp-based power bowl. we loved both of us, and the drinks were also delicious! let's go next visit to any case tahoe.
love free vogel - both places. I always get a (locally made) bagel with vegan cream cheese. they also have been baked that are vegan. they offer several milk alternatives for tea and coffee drinks and they have fantastic smoothies and açaí dishes. in any case stop on the way!
This restaurant is a fantastic place to grab a bite to eat. The chai is especially delicious, but the coffee is also tasty. Their baked goods and bagels are fantastic as well, making it the perfect place to stop in the morning before heading out for an adventure.

I recently had the most delicious smoothie at this restaurant. It was the Kale Yeah with mushroom powder and it was possibly the best smoothie I've ever had. The staff was very friendly and made my day. Thank you!
Awesome homemade high quality ingredients. Not Hersheys lol. So yummy. Love the organic too.
