"I've visited The French Horn several times since it opened. As a pub, it’s decent, and the evening menu offers satisfactory food. However, the brunch is quite basic for a pub, and their signature dish, the croque monsieur, is disappointing. On the plus side, the service is excellent. I’d recommend stopping in for a pint, but the daytime food options aren’t very impressive, especially with better alternatives nearby. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3"

Disappointing experience. The food was mediocre and served in small portions. The mussels in cream sauce were okay, but they came with plain packaged toasted white bread, which felt out of place and not what we expected. The portion of chips was tiny, served in a small metal cup. The calamari we ordered for our son looked unappetizing and was burnt and greasy—he refused to eat it. The carafe of Chenin Blanc was nothing special and not worth the £20 price. The staff were friendly enough, but we were left to pay at the bar ourselves despite the restaurant being empty, and a 10% service charge was added to our bill without prior notice; we had to ask for it to be removed. Went out with friends and started with a couple of oysters, which were good, followed by a decent main course. However, when we tried to order dessert at 9:15 PM, we were told the kitchen was already closed. On a Friday night at 9:15? After we had finished our mains? We were simply asking for macarons, not something elaborate. Has anyone else experienced this? It's completely absurd. I understand it’s just dessert, but honestly, get it together or you might not last much longer—and no one will miss you. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
