Decided to grab a quick fish and chips tonight, thought we'd Fish Inn again, figured the new guys would have had a chance to settle in by now. Very very disappointed. The chips were still very dry and overcooked. The fish I had was so oily it was barely edible. The one they got right this time was not to include the lemon, to which I'm allergic (they'd not read instructions last time and included it). Partner's dinner was also inedible: same quality chips, and his usual 'burger with egg'. Not 'burger with the lot', not 'cheese burger with egg' - the same cheeseless 'burger with egg' he's been buying for at least 7 years. Except it came half cooked, and with cheese. Manfully, he tried to eat...
Usually 5 star fish and chips shop.Until tonight, we waited nearly 10 minutes before anyone even spoke or looked at us. When the young girl eventually came out, she didn't great us just asked what we wanted. Having been in there before, I expect her to not be friendly but efficient, tonight however she was sour.To top it off, we ordered a meal that was suppose to come with tartare. When we asked if the tartare was inside the package she rolled her eyes and said they had run out. This would not have been a problem...if we were informed before asking and without an eye roll.Won't be back until the lovely pink hair lady is on.
The Funky Fish Inn has a good selection of takeaway food.They have a good variety of fish and you can have it grilled, crumbed or fried and the servings are generous.They also have a variety of burgers and these are huge.With potato chips, and a selection of seafood products, salads etc. there's plenty of choice and prices are reasonable.This is my favourite Fish shop in the area and it can get very popular, especially at weekends.They have changed management recently so hopefully they can keep up the good quality that the previous owners had.Give it a go!
There is nothing better than having fish n chips by the water on a sunny day. And some are prepared to pay the dearer prices (that is "view tax") of chippers by the sea/water. For the thrifty and those that don't mind a small drive, this eatery is perfect - excellent value at $6.00 for battered john dory and a serve of chips. The fish was cooked to perfection, moist flaky meat with crispy batter, a good portion of chips, which made a perfect fish dinner. We highly recommend these guys for a takeaway, we will be back.

Went here today and ordered a small chips to have the classic chip sandwich. I waited at least 20 minutes with no other customers but me, when I finally got my chips I went home to make my sandwich and as you will see in my pictures about they gave me old chips that were refried that were thrown in with only a few fresh ones just enough fresh ones to make one sandwich. What a disappointment it's really not that hard to cook fresh chips!
I'm not sure if there are new owner, but it's not the place it use to be. Our order was wrong. Not a big thing in itself but when combined with the level of service and different final product, enough to put me off the place. Meals were smaller in size and staff were not overly friendly. I agree with Sammyann and her review. I don't think we will be back. I will watch with interest to see other customers feedback
I have been buying from Funky Fish for two years and have never been disappointed in the quality and value of their products..........until today! Are there new owners?. Could not find a potato in the potato scallops; fish was thin and overcooked and even the chips seemed like they were twice fried. Even the wait was too long. Very disappointing.
Small hidden little shop good if your in the mood for fast food my favourite is the deep fried Marsbar.Only down fall is they don't answer the phone after about 7.30pm so if your trying to get a order in before close (8pm) you'll have to drive down or phone up earlier.

The ladies at The Funky Fish Inn always provide quality fresh food and always have a smile, which leaves their customers feeling happy. I like their grilled snapper, but have also tried many things over time.
