I enjoyed a beer in here on several occasions. But today was Sunday lunch. Busy rural pub 15 mins south of Reading. Car park packed and only able to park on the road. Absolutely superb. Friendly staff, swift service despite the crowd. And very high quality food. I enjoyed the G&D burger absolutely fabulous and Mrs B had the roast beef (Medium Rare) described as “the best roast beef I have ever had……that I haven’t cooked”. And she knows a good roast beef. High praise indeed. All washed down with some decent Merlot. All in all very very good for about £60. Highly recommended.

Still the same beautiful old pub (our favourite venue for birthdays and family parties for over 20 years! , but with new management sadly not the restaurant it once was. Very restricted menu now, with fairly standard dishes and my 'pavlova ' dessert was just a meringue nest with ball of ice cream on top surprising for the price charged. After 2 disappointing visits this year, sadly we will not be going again.

We visited at lunchtime today. Ordered our food at 1pm. Were told about 20 minutes later that the technology had failed between the bar and the kitchen and our order had not gone through. We were then promised our meal within 10 minutes. At 2.10pm we gave up and left with very little apology from the staff. Not at all impressed and would not recommend to anyone.

Pleasent lunch with friends, food is excellent and competivly priced and a good choice on the menu to suit all tastes, just a couple of gripes, the wine can be expensive, and didn't like the 10% service charge added to the bill. Overall just four star rating for me. 8/10 Reserva una mesa ahora

Sunday lunch 6th March Waited 50 minutes for roast (no chicken left) Beef quite fatty.and excess of red cabbage. Cheeseboard sadly lacking 3 small pieces of brie only hardly a selection of cheeses although this item was removed from the bill. Not overly impressed tbh.

Great beer, and pretty good food in a real fire/craft ale kind of atmosphere. Some of the team serving were clearly new so a few things got briefly forgotten but hopefully those kinds of things will get ironed out quickly. More expensive than I was expecting

Happened to be about to pass by but decided to call in for a pint. Didn't know before hand it was now a Siren house, the Lumina and Chenin Blanc for Mrs was so good we stayed and to eat the ribs. Thanks Rachel for such a warm welcome, nice fire by the way.

1st visit back in many years (having moved areas and pleased to find the food was as nice as ever. It's as rustic and quaint as it was (mind your head on the low roof beams! and service was friendly. Still recommend 15 years on! Reserva una mesa ahora
