If you want a nice Afternoon Tea then don’t go here!! We arrived and we were told we could sit where we liked and we sat in the gazebo part. My partner asked to use the toilet and was just told ’down there’. I sat down and the table surface was very sticky but then again they all were. Had to ask the young server to clean the table which she did do. The stand with the scones, cakes and finger sandwiches was then just placed on the table. The server then went about clearing dirty crockery from other tables and I had to ask her for some plates. We then proceeded to start on the fingers sandwiches, a grand total of 4 each and some of the bread was dry. There were 2 1/8 pieces of pork pies and wh...

We don't get to see our family often due to their busy schedules, but when they do visit, we like to treat them. This past Sunday, we took our oldest grandchild out for lunch before he headed back to London. Despite having many local options, he chose to eat at 'The Granary' at Scotsman Lodge between Ufford and Marholm. We had always enjoyed the service and food there in the past, but this time we were disappointed. The restaurant was not busy, with only one other couple dining. When I asked the waitress about ordering, she initially said we should order at the till, but eventually agreed to take our order at the table. Unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. The pork was too...
This cafe/ restaurant is in a lovely setting overlooking rural countryside, with a choice of local walks as well and a farm shop selling locally produced meat, eggs, cheeses etc. There is also a small area selling good range of plants, trees, pots and compost. Staff there really helpful. In the cafe I tried to order two cream teas, asking for one with coffee, initially told this would be extra. Having sorted that out asked for Earl Grey tea, warm scones and blackcurrant jam. Initially wrong tea arrived which was changed, but no lemons ... and scones were cold!! They were tasty however and enjoyed the cream and jam with them. Paid the bill and thankfully asked for a receipt. Then went to see...
One star for the tea served. No stars for the tasteless decaffeinated oat latte, or the GF brownies, or the mismatched crockery, or the untrained waitress, or the 1980s pine furniture, or the dirty tables, or the cane furniture nabbed from my granny 's conservatory all served in the squeaking, creaking gazebo/extension. Usually I 'd let the cafe know if there were issues with my visit but there were so many and telling the waitress or the chef on duty would really have been pointless. My advice is to do yourself a favour and keep your £9.90 in your pocket for a couple of drinks and a couple of cakes. I hope the owner reads this and buys some new furniture and some new crockery, gives their s... Reserva una mesa ahora
Went for coffee and cake. Asked for vegan cakes, explained my child is anaphylactic to dairy and eggs. They recommended a carrot cake which they said was made only of sugar, flour, oil and carrot and the buttercream made of margarine. I said several times that it needed to be dairy and egg free to make 100% sure. She went off to get them but my gut feeling was that it wasn’t safe or it’d be labelled vegan, so I went and checked the label and it very clearly said it contained eggs. Even though I’d said he had an egg allergy she STILL asked if he wanted it. If I’d taken her word for it we’d have been straight to A&E. In this day and age places serving food have no excuse for not understanding...
We were warned by our friends that the place has gone down hill but unfortunately we didn't take their advice and went anyway. Sadly we found the staff to be very rude on several occasions, we didn't have any specific or special requests but everything seemed too much trouble for them. The table next door adviced us as we sat down, I do wish we took their advice. Very very long wait just to place an order and even longer to wait for food over an hour . Sadly I would advise to avoid this place at all costs.
We were underwhelmed by our experience at The Granary tea room despite its nice views over the fields. The lack of ambience, dirty floors and tables, and disorganized chair and high chair storage gave off a neglected vibe. There was only one staff member who served us initially with lukewarm chocolate, which we had to ask to be reheated. The fruit scone was passable, but overall we were not impressed and do not plan on returning soon.
My wife surprised me for my 60th birthday by arranging for my family and friends to meet us at this restaurant. The service was exceptional. Carole, our hostess, was a delightful and efficient lady who made the occasion even more special. We stayed overnight and returned for breakfast the next day, where we were taken care of by two other wonderful ladies. The entire experience was flawless. Reserva una mesa ahora
We popped in for a drink and snack after a long local walk. The café tent awning is large and secure but very drafty, which is good for Covid security as there's plenty of ventilation, but it is cold as there's no heating. The menu is limited, but we opted for turkey rolls and a drink. Service is rather slow, but when the rolls did arrive they we tasty and hot.
