The Griddle Cafe looks like a local joint, popular for it's whimsical and signature pancakes. There is a plethora of options so you will definitely find something different each time. However, the atmosphere and food size is a major detractor. First, the place is not big, and they have loud music playing. Music should be background noise, the volume of which sets the volume of guests. It was way too loud in there wouldn't recommend for those with auditory sensitivity issues). Second, the sheer size of the food and amount is way over the top. I split a stack of pancakes with my mother and we only made it through half. If you want to experience a bar atmosphere early in the AM then this is your place, the music is so loud that I had to yell, They also allow dogs inside which has to be a health violation. Dogs on the outside is fine but inside with the loud music is just off putting. The tables are all smashed together so you're not just yelling over music you're yelling over people too. The food is alright, the pancakes are more a gimmick than just good, they are just huge. DO NOT BUY THE COFFEE, it is crazy expensive for pretentious french press that is not even good.
This place has some super good breakfast/brunch. The pancakes are so big they barely fit on the plate. You can easily split an order of pancakes between 2 people. Highly recommend if you’re in the LA area and if you’re a tourist. Heads up tho: they have fans and air going pretty high to the point it’s cold in there. Recommend bring a hoody or something. Also get there early because it can get busy quick and it’s first come first serve.
THE BEST PANCAKES ON EARTH WITHOUT QUESTION!! I've been here tons of times but this was my first time back since they reopened the sunset location. The other spot was cool with the view, but this location feels like home. Today I had the bourbon pancake and it was fire as usual. Bottomless mimosa deal= basically 5 glasses for $26! Yes, please! The enormous blueberry pancakes were delicious and definitely worth the price because they fed 2 people breakfast for 3 days! Moreover, the eggs were fluffy and buttery, and the chicken sausage was pretty tasty, too! I'm definitely going to go back soon!
