I was looking for a nice lunch with a good whiskey selection and I found it! This restaurant is superior when it comes to classic cool, wonderful attentive service, and unique menu options. I had the pear salad with candied pecans and at the server suggestion, the French onion soup topped with the ghost pepper cheddar, which was amazing! The combination of spice and savory flavors was just exemplary. I was going to order more, but I was so full after my first two options that I just settled into my 12 year red breast whiskey and called it a day. This restaurant is placed so close to the mayo clinic and downtown area... I cannot imagine that it would be difficult to travel there if you're in...

This place was overall okay. First off, it was FREEZING in there. It was snowing and they still had the AC on. I was literally in mittens until my food came and then had to eat with my coat on and another coat thrown across my lap. I tried ordering two cocktails and they were out of ingredients to make both. A little disappointing. The food itself tasted good. Nothing amazing. Especially not for the price. It is WAY WAY too expensive. For the price we paid for each meal, either the food needs to be very high quality and taste incredible, or you should get a lot, and it was a big miss on all of those categories. I did like the atmosphere inside! Just pretty dissatisfied with everything else.

The first time a month ago we had an out standing server, her name was Allison. She was nice and polite and happy to explain the menu and cocktails to us. The loaded yam is great. They have awesome tomato soup also. We haven't eaten much more than that but we also enjoyed the cocktails that we had. We liked it so much in October that we had to return in November. The food was still great but the server we had this time wasn't as attentive or friendly but we will still be back. We only live an hour away from here. The speakeasy Bitter and Pour is closed on Sunday and Monday but that is around the corner from the Half Barrel. This is a cute town with things to do and see.

There aren't many times in my experience when the food and the drink are both high quality. This place is that reality. To start with, even though there was a very heavy Friday lunch rush, Matt my server was attentive, well informed and friendly. Thanks Matt!. He helped me with several recommendations of Bourbons. No judgment zone here it's Friday for crying out loud! Ordered the lunch special fish tacos. They were excellent. Three big tacos and fries for $10. A great deal. I certainly would recommend anybody who comes into Rochester for treatment or business, to check this place out. Tip: Fish tacos are more than worth their money! Reserva una mesa ahora

I initially visited for the expertise of the hematologist, but I ended up staying for the Smoked Old Fashioned and Bruschetta. While I hope I never have to return to Mayo, I would love to check out the other half of the Barrel. Our server Kayla was fantastic.

I visited this place for the first time! The old fashioned cocktail was fantastic! I didn't try the food, but the atmosphere is wonderful. There are great seating options, mostly featuring high-top tables.

Great atmosphere and even better food. Smaller menu with not a ton of stuff to choose from, but everything tastes great! Very nice bar and the patio is great during the warm months!
