I reserved a table in this pub for Saturday June 13th. The lady called me today to explain I could reserve a table from 5pm to 7pm or 7pm until close. She was so accommodating and friendly on the phone. I explained to her the...7pm slot would suit us best as my friends and I are attending a lunch from 3 until 5 and would not make the 5pm time. We recently celebrated a special Birthday with a group of 20 friends for dinner at the amazing Hero of Waterloo. This venue is an historic Australian landmark, full of history, charm and tales from days gone by. The interior is gorgeous with beautiful exposed stone,...having been well looked after by the owners and character befitting to its colonial foundations and heritage. The Hero has a very warm and friendly owner who greeted us at the door, and an atmosphere that made us feel appreciated and welcomed. We enjoyed two dinners in this really cool pub on our recent trip. It is really is the neighborhood place. We loved the old world environment, the stories and the food. I had a great salad the first evening and tonight enjoyed the lamb shank...dinner. My husband had a delicious steak sandwich with fries. The pub is busy in a good way, but if you want a quieter dinner spot, head upstairs for the calmer, yet quaint dining room with the same menu. The staff was friendly and for a brief time we felt like locals. I definitely would return.

Found this pub on a walk around the Rocks area. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Great food. We ate there three times. We were shown around the cellar and told the story of the tunnel, fascinating. A big thank you to Karter. Definitely recommend anyone to...go to the Hero of Waterloo pub for a drink and a meal. We will definitely go again if we ever visit Sydney again.

From the moment we arrived , what a fantastic experience it was visiting The Hero a few nights ago .The food was just so good and served by the friendliest of staff all evening . And with all fireplaces going it was the best atmosphere...for a great night . Thank you Hero -I'll be back very soon
