I had to leave my wife and two children in the middle of the night on the A1. Since we were stranded, we had to find a place to stay for the night. After checking several hotels unsuccessfully, we were able to find a room at The Hop Pole. They had a family room available, complete with a cot. I am extremely grateful to them for turning what started as a terrible night into a pleasant stay. The building is beautiful with both historic features and modern amenities. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and quiet. There is free parking available both in front of the hotel and across the street. This was a nice property to stay at when we visited Sherwood Forest for the Robin Hood Festival. The room was cozy and had a boutique feel (although the mattress on the twin bed in the family room had a bit of a sink in the middle). I really liked all the quirky little common areas, particularly a sitting room they had with a massive fire and a medieval feel to it. Breakfast was good albeit it extraordinarily slow. We were in no rush and took it in stride. It's not always a terrible thing, being forced to slow down and just enjoy a lovely morning. There's a great lawn area in the back for kids to run around. We recently stayed at the Hop Pole Hotel and it was excellent. We had two double rooms and a single room I was in the single and the room was clean, beautifully decorated, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom very spacious and modern. The decor of the hotel fits in well with the building. The staff were friendly and helpful. Compliments to the chef as the breakfasts and evening meals were superb. Everybody was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would definately stay here again and bring my husband and son as they do family rooms. Thank you for a wonderful stay, I will be back.

Located in a picturesque village and easily accessible from the main road (A617), this venue is a gem. The car park opposite the Hop Pole Hotel is a decent size. The venue itself is top-notch, providing a warm and cozy environment with various seating options in different rooms. An outdoor seating area at the back offers privacy and peace. Their buffet catering for events is exceptional. The bar boasts a great selection of ales that you won't find in typical pubs. Prices are reasonable and the quality is excellent. Lovely pub. Beautiful setting. Samual Smith pub so Super cheap beer. Where else can you go and get a pint for £1.40 other than samual smith. The staff were very friendly and helpful which made my visit alot more pleasant. The locals were friendly and talkative which made me feel welcome. The outdoor seating area was truly gorgeous. Will be visiting again to try the food. Thank you for a lovely time.

The building is absolutely beautiful and maintained to an extremely high standard of cleanliness at all times. The manager and employees are the most polite and welcoming people I have ever met in the industry. Every time we visited, our dining experience was amazing and the service was excellent. I will definitely return to The Hop Pole without a doubt.

Rooms are of a really good size and beds are comfortable. Staff are friendly too. Breakfast portion on the Choose your own option was a little small, but other than that I can't fault it. The shower holder in our room wasn't the right one for the shower head so drenched most of the bathroom, but easily rectified

I stayed at this hotel after attending a wedding. The rooms were beautifully decorated and had great features. The location is nice, right across from an Italian restaurant. The breakfast service was a bit slow, but the hotel was fully booked, so perhaps they need more staff when all rooms are occupied. Reserva una mesa ahora

The restaurant is housed in a stunning building and offers a warm and friendly welcome from both the staff and other customers. It is a typical Samuel Smith's pub with a great atmosphere, a wide selection of traditional ales, and incredibly low prices. What's not to like?

The restaurant has a very traditional atmosphere, but the food was enjoyable. They have a strict no swearing, no mobile phones, and no credit cards policy.
