The Houblon Arms

Absolutely shameful management of this establishment. They treat their serving staff extremely poorly. Disgusting comments about where they live, how they talk, even dress (outside work) dismissing a young lady because she is pregnant and it doesn't suit their image, and then having the audacity to not even tell her, but telling her work colleagues instead. Cowards. Discussing current employees in a derogatory manner with potential employees during interviewing. Very unprofessional. I will be telling everyone I know exactly how this establishment is run and to not bother wasting their money to line the pockets of these cowards. Rooms: 1 Service: 1 Location: 1

I was really looking forward to my stay here, but unfortunately after an awful experience, I cannot recommend The Houblon Arms for female travelers. The staff here have made it clear that unless you are white or accompanied by a male chaperone, you deserve to be harassed during your stay. The peaceful serenity of the English countryside was completely ruined by my experience staying at this hotel. Sadly I cannot recommend it to solo female travelers — please be advised to stay somewhere else.

Both my wife and I went for Sunday Lunch yesterday 24th of September 2023,the food was excellent, and the staff very pleasant and cheerful. We would highly recommend a visit! Service: 5 Location: 5
