I have been coming here since The Irving Inn proper restaurant proper opened. I have lived in Rahway for over 10 years have always supported small businesses that have brought MY town up and on the map- BUT tonight was a pushing point for me. My card was charged wrongly and waited over 15 mins not 10* for even someone to ACKNOWLEDGE this, mind you I had to flag someone down on a night where tables were empty and it was not a busy night, to even see where our check was. It was only until i did this that the wait was explained. When the owner came, he thought that as a patron i was in the WRONG to have waited and be OK with such a mistake to be done with my card. I have to say, my recent experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing. I had visited before and enjoyed it, but this time was not as good. I ordered the short ribs shepherd's pie, and specifically asked if it was similar to their braised short rib dish. Unfortunately, the meat turned out to be pulled short rib buried under a layer of mashed potatoes, with very little meat at the bottom. I felt that it was overpriced. My friend ordered the pork chop, which was slightly tender but overall just okay. The ambiance of the place was nice, but it was not very comfortable for dining. Additionally, the dessert that I wanted to try was not available.
Tried this place a few times, drinks mainly, food twice. Drinks are interesting considering the area, good specialty cocktails if that's your thing. Food is ok, trying to be different but missing something. I tried to like this place as a chill low key bar. But the bartenders don't have the best of personalities, staff isn't very attentive and overall they seem to be more interested in congregating amongst themselves in the corner then actually providing service. This doesn't go for everyone. The place is missing a solid vibe, atmosphere that most people go out for. Haven't been in awhile, maybe we'll try again.
We had a fantastic dinner at this restaurant! We sat in the quiet upstairs room, which was perfect for our gathering with family and friends. The service was outstanding. Joanie greeted us warmly and made us feel like royalty. The cocktails were delicious and all of the wine recommendations were spot-on. I can't say enough good things about our dinner experience. We will definitely be returning!

This charming restaurant is the perfect spot for a tasty meal, excellent service, and fantastic drinks. The food always hits the mark, and the cozy ambiance of the historic building creates a welcoming and intimate dining experience without feeling formal. It's an ideal spot for a romantic date or a gathering with friends.
We were seated immediately on a Friday night, but it did get busy shortly after we arrived. Restaurant is not big, but has a cozy feel to it. Drinks were good and arrived quickly. All the food arrived hot, and we all enjoyed what we ordered. Catfish sandwich was very good and comes with a side of fries.
The food was excellent, the decor and upkeep of the restaurant could use updating. The bar next door is very cool, the restaurant appears a bit dated w the artwork and cases of wine on the floor. But food and people were excellent. We’ll definitely come back.
Don't eat after my taste. no taste. Drinks were okay, I wouldn't order anyone else. indoor and outdoor area for feeding (plus barbecue.) a person? bathroom lock broken. parking space around the corner (park deck) less than 1 min away.

Being new to the area this is the best restaurant we've tried yet! The recipes are unique and not your typical same old stuff just made by a different chef. Excellent craft cocktails too!
