the Ivy House is our local pub the best community pub in London! But so much more than that since returning to live back in SE London we have visited regularly for a mid week drink; lovely Sunday lunches with wonderful jazz bands; band nights and brilliant burlesque evenings; meeting friends . . the list goes on! And always a great range of drinks and food; and lovely friendly staff! My now wife and I held our wedding reception at the Ivy House in April. Right from the get go, we worked closely with the manager Tom, who helped us to tailor all of the details for a totally bespoke day from decorations to music to food. In the event, the reception was fantastic. Tom and his team did a cracking job of making the two back rooms really magical (the front bar stays open, but separate). We chose this pub because of its unique character and its community focussed ethics, and we were delighted to have a wedding reception that far exceeded anything a swish wedding planner could have arranged! Highly recommended for people who like character, community, and creativity.
Tucked away near Peckham Rye in SE London the Ivy House was the chosen venue for our wedding reception. This community pub has a great atmosphere and a quirky style; a traditional style pub with lots of deep brown wood. We had the back two rooms which included a stage for the band and DJ. The staff were friendly, the Events Manager was very accommodating and the team helped our vision come to light plus the catering was fantastic. Already a little gem of ours for a night out, if you're looking to hold an event it's venue full of character and highly recommended.
We finally had a reunion to meet our friends baby after having a tough year and my friends were told rudely they had to leave because their license didn't allowed babies in their premises my friends were standing in the street not even sitting down). Their approach was just rude, instead of apologising and explaining politely they literally kicked them out. It's hard enough to be a young parent, have some respect and stop being discriminatory. I love this pub, and I've visited many times but this is unacceptable. We are never coming back.

The menu had a good number of vegetarian options, including a really tasty pizza with Mediterranean vegetables, even the crust was delicious. I also enjoyed the selection of locally brewed beverages on tap, Brockley red in particular was very easy drinking. There was a rainbow flag sign by the bar, it said that all were welcome, bigotry would not be tolerated, and asked that if anyone felt uncomfortable, they talk to the bar staff. It made me feel welcome, and invited, and I really appreciate that.
Had a Christmas meal with friends and the food was of a really high standard, particularly bearing in mind that they were catering for over 20 covers. The staff were friendly and happy to move tables around to create more space. The Kernel Victorian Mild was really good too. This pub has a really good atmosphere and makes me proud to be a community shareholder (NB this does not confer any financial benefits or discounts)
This is a great place to have a wedding reception if you're looking for something with character, which is fun, and are pretty laid back about exactly how the reception should be. Tom and his colleagues were really welcoming and did a really great job at making the room look brilliant. The food was great, the drinks are good and the staff are all really lovely.
Pop into the ivy this afternoon was disappointed at the selection of real ale available, spoke to the barman who said he would put some more on, waited 45 minutes still same and left. We went down to lordship lane and had six nice pints of Peckham pale in east Dulwich tavern.

So impressed by the food here. The homemade pasta was the nicest pasta dish I've had in years (including many Italian restaurants). Great value and a great local pub.
