My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping down and around New Brighton and The James Atherton Pub is a pub we always look forward to visiting. I love the look of this pub ,great decor and furnishings including a superb looking serving bar, tv's to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, a great pub to unwind in. My twin and I were here on a Saturday afternoon, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the staff, we gave our details of name and phone number to assist with the governments track and trace system and then sanitised our hands, we were allocated a table were we just kicked back, chilled out and orderd a cider each, cider's were served in exc...

My brother Stephen and I were exploring the Victoria Quarter and decided to visit The James Atherton Pub, a place I always look forward to visiting. I love the temporary renaming of the pub, it suits it perfectly. The interior of the pub is charming, with classic pub decor and furnishings, including a beautiful wooden bar that stands out in the main room. The cozy atmosphere, multiple TVs for sports viewing, and ample seating options make it a fantastic pub. We visited on a Thursday afternoon, following all safety protocols, and were seated at a table where we ordered a cider each. The cider was served perfectly cold and sparkling, and we relaxed and enjoyed the great atmosphere of the pub....

The James Atherton, located on Victoria Road in New Brighton, is a fantastic pub that offers a good selection of popular beers. Named after the resort's 19th century founder, James Atherton, the pub is part of the Victoria Quarter in New Brighton. Recently, the pub made headlines for temporarily changing its name in a humorous nod to the Prime Minister and his health minister. With a clean and inviting interior, ample seating options both inside and outdoors, and numerous TV screens, The James Atherton is worth a visit. Upon arrival, we provided our contact details for contact tracing and enjoyed a few pints of Hawkshead Brewery Pale Ale, which was well-served and reasonably priced. Easily a... New Brighton is trying. Like a lot of the coastline here stretching into North Wales, Rhyl, Prestatyn etc, this once thriving seaside resort has gone through hard times, in part because the bought the cheap day trip beer fish chips economy . when people tired of that and found EasyJet they went into a bottom chasing decline. Recently, they’re trying to revitalise and the road, where this pub is one of several, is an example of that with interesting murals, real ale offerings and decent food. This is a good example. the outside looks a bit gloomy but it’s quite lovely inside and the friendly staff make it a little more comfortable. Worth looking for.

After doing some shopping in New Brighton, we were looking for a place to grab a bite to eat. We stumbled upon this charming pub and we were so pleased we did. The pub was cozy and impeccably clean with a welcoming fire. The menu was simple, offering paninis and wraps, but the food was delicious, well-presented, and affordable at less than five pounds. The owner of the pub also owns several other businesses in town and has clearly invested in upgrading them, giving the area a fresh and modern feel. We would love to return on a sunny day and when we don't have to drive.

A real friendly pub, good atmosphere, lovely staff. Very good selection of draught lagers and real ales which are all kept in good condition. Has sports on tv but it is not intrusive.
