Jimador on Velasco in Freeport exceeded my expectations. I hadn't intended to eat here, but after dropping off my Jeep at Miles Auto, I decided to walk over from across the street. In my experience, and based on my mother's recipes, this is truly the best Mexican food I've had outside of my own home. It's no surprise that the place is bustling at lunchtime, filled with Hispanic workers from the nearby industrial shops. When my husband and I travel we stay away from chain/ tourist food places. We will be back to this little place! The food was amazing, our server Bebe was so sweet! The portions were huge, the salsa I just wanted to drink it. My husband's chimichunga washuge, he said it was delicious and had to take left overs to our hotel. El Jimador never disappoints. It’s straightforward, fast, and offers a warm, inviting atmosphere. The food is consistently served hot and in generous portions, and I can’t get enough of their enchilada gravy! This spot is perfect for a quick lunch, delivering just the right flavors. I really hope it sticks around for a long time because it's an effortless choice for tasty food at a fair price, coupled with great service.
My fondest memory of arriving in Freeport was enjoyable, but this time was different. Unfortunately, there wasn’t anything I liked about my experience. None of the three dishes stood out to me, and the flavors were lacking. I’m sorry to say it, but that’s the honest truth.

Neighbor Restaurant offers great prices, a fun and friendly staff, and a funky atmosphere. Although my first choice wasn’t available, my second choice exceeded my expectations, and the beer was really cold. I will definitely come back during my next fishing trip!
Meat was so tuff that I had to throw the tacos away. Normally I can tolerate some tuff meat but not this much. Very high priced for little amount of food.
If I'm ever back in Freeport from Houston, I would definitely visit again. To the guy with the Charro beans, just ask for another cup!
The buffet was real good and I liked the big mason jar the drpepper came in .. and free refills
