We’ve walked from Kendal to Staveley many times but usually pass through Burneside much earlier than lunch time. Today we were a bit later because our new puppy is a bit slower. Our reward was to find this cracking little chippy. It’s just beside the Jolly Anglers pub and easily missed. Really super fresh fish and very reasonably priced. We had haddock and it was one of the freshest I’ve tasted. The staff were charming. A local wee hotspot so please do drop in for a treat and avoid the usual options in the more touristy parts of this area of the Lakes.
We rang ahead and placed order to pick up. Food wad ready on arrival. Great customer service. We had haddock, chips and curry sauce. It was beautiful. Big portion and very reasonably priced. If in area wouldn't go to any other chip shop even if in surrounding areas worth the extra bit of travel. Note it is cash only so make sure to take some with you. Parking rigbt outside and plenty of bestiful spots around to stop and eat.
The most delicious fish and chips. Freshly cooked cod in a crispy batter. Great chips; no grease/oil, just perfect fried potatoes. We also had mushy peas these were lovely just the right consistency and full of flavour. You can park outside or at the store round the corner. If you phone in your order, there’s no waiting. The staff are so smiley, chatty and friendly too.
Fabulous food! Fresh cooked cod with the best lightest batter we've ever had. Great chips and curry sauce too! Extremely welcoming and friendly. Lovely and clean. Best we've ever had and a great price too! We were staying on the Camping and Caravanning Club Site 5 minutes away and would definitely recommend. Thank you

During our visit to Kendal for a few nights, we stayed in Burneside and were recommended this restaurant by our host. It was affordable, offered high-quality and fresh food! I suggest trying their delicious fish and chips. The only downside is that they only accept cash, not cards.
What a hidden gem! This place is extremely clean, has great customer service and some of the best fish and chips you'll ever have. All priced very reasonably too which is hard to find these days. 100% will be visiting everytime we are at the lakes

Really friendly staff. Fresh, tasty fish and great chips. A real gem. Easy to park near by and there's a kids play ground across the road to entertain the kids whilst you wait. What more do you want. Perfect

The chips are full of flavour and smell lovely! Been visiting for years and the staff are always polite and friendly. Portions sizes are amazing!
