Well where to start? Having a ladies weekend (we are a bunch of ladies in our late 30 's, early 40 's , decided that spoonies is always a good place to start a days drinking. Managed to get ourselves a seat outside, cleared the table, took all the plates and cutlery inside, asked for a cloth and wiped it down for them as well (genuinely no issue with doing that . We ordered food and drinks and set out to enjoy ourselves. Here is where we made a mistake, we assumed as we had seen many other people doing so that you were allowed to put your table number on Fb so friends could send you drinks. (More money coming into the business surely? We received a round of shots from a kind friend but then...
We were visiting Bath to see the legendary Teenage Fanclub at Komedia and had an hour to kill before the gig. We wanted some quick food and a beer and Spoons fits the bill plus very near to Komedia. Arrived at 6pm, got a table and ordered 2 x fish and chips with drinks immediately. Service was quick and the fish had a lively crisp batter, the fresh was flaky and white it was lovely and pretty generous portion. The beer was an Otters ale and that was a good sup and ridiculously cheap at £1.30 a pint. People have a right moan about Spoons but this was a decent one. Don't know what some expect but we were satisfied with the visit and I've had far worse from other pubs and Bern ripped off elsewh...
We ordered on the app. Our food arrived, still no drinks. We asked the waiter and he reluctantly went and checked and said they would come soon. They did, but I expect drinks to come before food. The burger that came was more like a kids meal than a proper meal. At that point didn't want to make a fuss so ended up having to get another meal somewhere else afterwards. I realise we should have complained at the time but 1) we shouldn't have had to and 2) sometimes it's just not possible. Disappointing!
Food in spoons can be a bit touch and go depending on the pub. This one was definitely a go as I wouldn 't touch it again. A broken egg in on breakfast bap and she 'll in the other. Food 'warm ' and nowhere near piping hot. Probably been sitting on the hot plate for a while! I was going to order eggs Benedict but I 'm so glad I didn 't as the poor chap on a nearby table had one at the same time and the yolks on the poached egg were rock hard yuk

This pub gives the impression that no one is managing it. If you choose jdw you are clearly not expecting silver service but please try a little harder. I placed a food drink order on the app. Food arrived after 15 min and I had to ask the waitress (very pleasant) to go in search of my drink. There is a fundamental problem with the way in which this organisation is structured. If you'd like me to I can give you some pointers
Filthy tables empty glasses and plates left on numerous tables for over an hour without being cleared, wiped our own table down while a staff member wandered around picking up sauce bottles, wasn't particularly busy and after a visit to the dirty toilets we moved on to another eaterie, one Wethers to cross off a go to list.
I had lunch with my wife today. I had pizza, my wife had risotto, both really good. the staff was very friendly and very helpful. wetherspoons have worked very hard to make eating and drinking a good experience in these difficult times.
There was a situation which made me and friends very uncomfortable, I spoke to luke about it, the way luke and the staff dealt with the situation was perfect, thumbs up to u all, and thank u

always very convenient for fast, light meals. like most places to eat, barely fish dishes on offer except fish and chips. beautiful, fast service.
friendly staff, quick service. only on the bottom is the toilet room grimt. a good stop for eating and drinking. recommended!
