Dropped in for lunch halfway through a ride along the 'Shiraz trail'. We were greeted warmly. The staff were funny, cheeky and gave us just the right amount of attention. The pumpkin and ricotta gnocchi was delicious with some sage on top as a surprise. My friend had the eel and artichoke risotto and reported it was tasty. Empty plates..... We made space to share the donuts which is apparently a new item to the menu. Yum!! All washed down with water and a glass of Chardonnay. The only area for improvement would be to install a bike rack to secure bikes properly.
We stumbled across this restaurant and we are so pleased we did. The food was outstanding, the wine is fabulous and the scenery is beautiful. I had salmon and my husband had pork belly with the beetroot salad. We dine with a tornado toddler and Penny's Hill really helped keep her entertained. They have highchairs, chickens, sheep and a big box of toys. All these additions are very discreet and result in the restaurant being classy and child friendly.
Though we don't live very far away, Monday is the only day we have off together and we were on a "tour of discovery" to find somewhere to have lunch. We initially drove past Penny's Hill and then turned back to see what was on offer. What we found was wonderful food, a delightful waitress and outstanding attention to detail.
We arrived for lunch and simply said feed us. The chef put together an excellent entree and main course with matching wines which were amazing. Beautiful spot looking over the hills.

No doubt this was the best meal i have had in South Australia . Thank you sooooo much!!!.We will be back!!!

Penny's Hill has been a South Australian fave for many years, famous for their reds and for good reason.
I had my birthday lunch here on MondayIt was an excellent experience and we were well looked after.
