We recently had dinner at this East Indian restaurant on 3rd Avenue in Lethbridge. It is located in the former Coco Pazzo Italian restaurant premises. The interior décor is basically unchanged and is functional and attractive. Service was friendly and efficient. We were at the restaurant after 7PM during the week so it wasn't overly busy at the time. We ordered the mixed grill with meat ( chicken, lamb and beef sausage ) and the fish Tikka. Both dishes came with rice and salad. Portions were generous and fairly reasonably priced. Also came with a butter dip for the meat which was tasty. "Too many cooks spoil the soup" they say . . . The meal was ok but the serving crew should get their act together . . . . Our order was messed up, and we had to ask more than one server to attend to the problem. They assumed you know what each of their presentations were, and we didn't (first visit). My date had a very bland chicken dish, and mine was really spicy. They had asked me about spice range at order time, but not my date's. Floor supervisor had to get involved for clarification, and ended up offering a dessert that was so sweet, it would put a diabetic in a coma. Ordered online what a mistake. First by mistake my order went to Medicine Hat which wasn't a big deal to cancel. The total for my exact same order between Medicine Hat and Lethbridge were different. Medicine Hat Mango Tree was $38 and in Lethbridge it was $43. I chose to pay when I picked up and this is what really upset me my total ended up being $53. They told me they didn't update the prices online which is through the Just Eat App and so my order was even more. My order was the exact same from Medicine Hat to Lethbridge order I reviewed the online order just to be sure and then because i didn't pay online I had to pay more. Very dishonest in my opinion and for that I will not go back.
Without a doubt, my favourite restaurant in Lethbridge. I have done take-out, dine in, and never once had a bad experience. The servers are friendly and quick, but not overbearing. As a server myself, I know how many places expect a near constant presence of the servers at their tables and its often our biggest flaw-- this place is doing it right. The food is excellent, the service efficient, and the atmosphere unbeatable for good conversation. Further, my meal (Chicken korma generally) lasts me 2-3 meals. That's the kind of value I like.
This is our go to place for East Indian in Lethbridge. We used to get it weekly. It was a few dollars cheaper and more convenient than the other East Indian restaurants in town so this is where we went. Food is good but there is a lack of consistency in spice level and thickness. Over the past couple months, though, the prices have gone up considerably and they are now using potatoes in with their meat dishes instead of just all meat like it used to be. Overall it is still a favourite.
I love Mango Tree and have eaten there about 6 times now. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food comes really quickly. I find that it isn't as hot as I would think it is as the heat is rated 1-5. I started with a 3 just to determine how hot it is. I now order a 5 and there is one step up from there - Indian hot - which is pretty hot but doesn't make me sweat to bad! Everything is so flavorful and the naan is great too.
Thank you baby for the fabulous dinner! Another first. Samosas, awesome. Dad would love the chickpea sauce. Spicy n sweet. butter rice, khadori lamb. Sooo many different spices flavours. Staff was fantastic and professional. Asked how spicy. I didn't go full throttle 5. Chickened out and went with 4. Was very good. Very spicy. The service was great-the waitress well informed and helpful in our selectionf of dishes. The food was well presented and the dishes were hot (not cold) and tasted out of this world. I have recommended this restaurant to as many of my friends as possible and after their visits have raved about it as well.
