We we’re passing through Montrose and decided to stop for something to eat. The Market Arms had a soup and sandwich deal at £5, unfortunately for us the last of the soup had been sold to the previous customers. On looking again at the menu we both decided to take filled sandwiches with crisps a glass of milk and tea for my wife. We were served promptly by friendly staff all in all I was very pleasantly surprised as the sandwiches were nice fresh and tasty. Everything on the menu was very reasonable with quite a number of customers sitting within the premises. Good and very popular bar on High Street, handy for a beer before or after train journey. Were in on a Saturday evening and pub was very busy but got served very quickly. Squeezed into a corner table and had a good chat and laugh with locals. Nice pub for a friendly beer or two.
Driving from Edinburgh to Stonehaven on a miserable cold and rainy day. Stopped for lunch at the Market Arms. Very limited menu but just what we needed delicious homemade soups and simple sandwiches accompanied by a glass of cask ale. Bar staff friendly and nice atmosphere.
Credit where credit is due, and today the staff at the Market Arms did a amazing job finding a space for 4 of us, a baby, 2 dogs and a wheelchair. on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Faultless lunch, great beer and fresh food. Thank you all for going the extra mile

If you want a cheap tasty lunch this is a good place to go. Soup sandwich £3.50 soup was tasty hot sandwiches fresh with plenty of filling. The staff are pleasant friendly there is a nice atmosphere, dog friendly too
Good pub serving a decent selection of snack meals at a good price. The staff are all friendly and cant do enough for you and very friendly atmosphere. friend and me go there every week for a catch up.
Stopped for a quick snack, had 2 homemade soup and sandwiches, a diet coke and a Latte only £11, nice clean place and pleasant staff and not long to wait. Will be back.
Stopped in her for a decent pint of Real Ale I think it was the Orkney and also a nice soup and sandwich while waiting to catch the bus back home.
