We have had the pleasure to eat at the Mermaid a few times over our long weekend away at the Scilly's. The staff have always welcomed us warmly on arrival and remained attentive throughout each visit. The food is good value pub grub with some intriguing specials which just HAD to be sampled. My particular favourite dish was the roast option available on Sundays. We opted for the mixed roast platter which came with a very hearty portion of both Beef and Pork. The meat was perfect and it all came with a lovely selection of seasonal veg. My only regret on my visit was choosing to only have one scallop to start as opposed to three! Really enjoyed our evening here and several afternoons in the bar, an easy friendly pub. Normal pub choice of beers, good range of gins. I went to the restaurant for lunch, but the bar area was dirty and dominated by a very loud, profane man who was encouraged by the owner and staff. We quickly finished our drinks and left without ordering any food.

This is the only legitimate pub on St. Mary's, but 18 pounds for two medium glasses of house red wine? Really! The Sunday lunch was great, but we'll definitely be dining elsewhere at that price.
Come here a lot in the last week food was amazing thanks to jim and chloe, the pub had great atmosphere all the staff were great the manager dan was reallly helpful and very friendly
