My wife and another couple, and I had the great pleasure of visiting St. John’s while attending the Brier, and one of the absolute highlights of our trip was being Screeched In at The Newfoundland Embassy Pub. My wife arranged the ceremony, and we were fortunate enough to have Niall, the Head Screecher, lead the experience. Niall was truly outstanding—an amazing master of ceremonies who mixed Newfoundland history, humour, and tradition perfectly. One of the friendliest bars in town. The Embassy is a big part of community initiatives and strives to be a safe, inclusive and welcoming space. Highly recommend for a pint before or after the game, to catch live music in an upbeat atmosphere or to have a laugh at thier bingo or other events they put off. Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

When they claim to be the 'friendliest pub in the North Atlantic,' they genuinely mean it. This pub is our top choice for downtown outings. The music is always fantastic, the food is delicious, and the custard cones are a must-try. The service is exceptional, too. Plus, they have a pool table and an amazing rooftop patio. I would definitely recommend it—10/10!

I stumbled upon this charming pub while shopping on Water St. It's truly one of the nicest pubs I've ever visited. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming! They have a great selection of drinks and a fabulous atmosphere. And the Lars custard cone? Wow! I will definitely return to this pub on my next trip to St. John’s. I absolutely love it! The selection of beers is impressive, and the staff is both friendly and knowledgeable. The food is fresh and made in-house, and the live music they feature is always popular. With a dining area, bar, deck, and a pool table, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The Newfoundland Embassy is definitely a must-visit for both locals and tourists!
