The Old Coffee Pot

I was recommended by a friend when looking for someone to make a 70th Birthday cake for my sister. I have never eaten in this coffee shop, but when I went in and saw the cakes, I knew it looked very promising. The owners were lovely when I explained what I wanted, and I have to say the finished cake (chocolate) was exactly what I'd asked for. The cake itself was delicious, very moist and everyone particularly liked the fact that the filling was a ganache and raspberry jam as opposed to just buttercream. As a bonus the cake also freezes well! Handy for any leftovers. This shop will now be my first port of call for coffee and cake, although the lunch time menu looked also very tempting. Lovely...

I visited the Old Coffee Pot for the first time in 2023 and was very pleased with the service. They have made some minor changes to the menu, so I decided to try the new ham hock potato cakes with a savoury lentil and bean stew. It was fresh, healthy, and delicious. Darren and Rachel did a fantastic job, and I had another great lunch experience. I also took a piece of lemon meringue pie home for supper, which was as fabulous as always. Thank you to the whole team at the Old Coffee Pot!

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Our meal was absolutely delightful- the salad that came with our meal was filled with various ingredients, not just lettuce and tomato. The selection of cakes on display was impressive, and they even had a special pancake menu for Shrove Tuesday. The restaurant had a warm and welcoming family-friendly atmosphere, and at the end of our meal, the chef came out and performed a magic trick for the kids. It was a flawless dining experience.

Amazing This cafe is everything you hope a good cafe will be. Friendly, helpful, cozy, with an amazing choice of cakes. I couldn't decide whihc cake to choode so bought a piece to take home as well as one to eat in. The cafe has a real charm, including the decor and the people who run it who are engaging and clearly paaionate about what they are offering. For my jusband and I this is a real find. We visited last weekend for a family lunch all the food was lovely but I was impressed with the gluten free cakes on offer. The gf lemon meringue pie was amazing so good I took a takeaway slice home too! Lovely place with great staff, my Grandson was impressed with the chefs party tricks too, thanks so much we will be back for another visit soon.

Met friends here on the way to Lake Vyrnwy. Really friendly and welcoming staff who were knowledgeable about gluten-free options. The variety was amazing, and options could be adapted. I had a toasted sandwich followed by scone and cream. If I am every in the area again, I will return. Thank you for looking after all of us.

As a solo luncher I received a very friendly welcome, excellent service and very tasty, well cooked snack lunch rarebit with bacon. The cafe is comfortable, individual and an asset to the town. I was only a casual visitor but it made a very positive impression and I would recommend it highly.

A lovely part of the Oswestry café scene. Amazing cakes, glutton free included, and a good menu. Impeccable, friendly service from the owners and their staff and a fabulous Sunday lunch which can be a takeaway.
