We went along to try their raspberry and white chocolate scones foremostly! Having seen the tea house featured on TV programme about Dorset, we were keen to experience it. We were greeted so warmly by the owner who asked us as we were sitting down if we wanted tea or coffee it felt like we were a guest in her home. I loved all the quaint Mis matched crockery. It felt like I was visiting my nan’s for the afternoon. The scone was really lovely and warm! We also tried the traditional Dorset Apple cake with some clotted cream which was also lovely. We spent some time talking with the owner about the history of the tearoom which is amazing to hear: from being a safe house for the friars, to a hol...

If you haven't visited this restaurant yet, you should definitely consider it. It's not just an old-fashioned tearoom - you can enjoy cream teas, lunches, Sunday dinners, and even stay overnight in one of the two rooms they offer. My partner and I stayed in the suite a few years ago and recently returned for another stay. It's a very special place, incredibly comfortable, spacious, and you might even have a supernatural experience as some guests have reported hearing spirits. There really isn't anything negative to say about this place - it's truly a wonderful experience! The breakfast that comes with your stay is absolutely delicious too. Don't forget to say hello to Debbie (or Derek) - the...

A warm welcome and delicious food. Debbie our host made sure everything was perfect. This is a family run restaurant and B&B and everyone goes that extra mile. Many locals make several visits a week. That is always a good sign. Bone china crockery added a touch of class. The cream tea was the best I have ever eaten. There is a choice of homemade scones and they are huge. The building contains numerous furnishings and tapestries that complimented the building which is over 500 years old. Well worth a visit and definitely a place we will visit again

Stayed for 2 nights, very oldie worldie, rooms very comfortable and very clean, fridge and tea and coffee, hairdryer as well, no shower in our room but had a bath. Food is amazing and plentiful, the scones are out of this world. The owner is such a lovely person, you are made to feel so welcome, plus the rest of the family are lovely. Prices are very reasonable, car park nearby which you have to pay for. Reserva una mesa ahora

Visited after seeing the tea house on Dorset coast and country. We had a lovely warm welcome as soon as we entered. Beautiful quaint place seeping in history. My little girl said it was like someone’s living room. Staff were lovely, youngsters were polite and smiley. Ordered 2 cream teas and a cheese sarnie. Had plenty of tea, scones were hot out of the oven. Really good value. Will definitely return

I am local and visited the old tea house many years ago when it was like an old fashioned tea house with a great selection of cakes nick nacks you could buy.The table cloths were dirty with tea stains .because the tea pots didn’t pour properly. The staff were helpful the breakfast was ok but we shall not be returning its a shame as it use to have such old fashion character .

Excellent coffee and wonderful service. Debbie was so helpful, nothing was too much, and ran the place in an efficient and very friendly fashion. I was served by Felix, who made sure my cup was never empty. And it is like going back in time, with furniture that reminded me of my mother's home! And those beams and fireplaces.

The coffee was not great, it tasted cheap. The full English breakfast was not good value for the money. The toast was made with cheap bread. The tables around us were offered extra toast and tea when there were no mushrooms, but we were not offered anything. Overall, it was disappointing. Reserva una mesa ahora

I highly recommend this restaurant. The owner and staff are extremely friendly, and the Dorset apple cake I ordered with a pot of tea was delicious (and a generous portion!). It is definitely worth checking out if you are in Dorchester or passing through.
