We live very close to this pub, so we decided to stop for dinner on our way back from walking our dog. We sat in the large beer garden, which happened to be empty except for us. Our dog enjoyed the freedom of running around on her lead while we ate the hot and tasty food. Shaun provided excellent service, being both chatty and friendly. He apologized frequently, which we found amusing. It's great to see The Old White Horse survive during covid, and we hope it continues to do well. The only downside was the slightly neglected beer garden, despite its beautiful view. However, this won't deter us from returning in the future.
Have eaten here many times but not since it's been taken over. The menu has changed but alot of the old favourites are still on there. Nice to see the usual staff are still in there. They are always very welcoming and friendly and very helpful. The food was lovely and plenty of it. Cannot fault it. It was very quiet as I think some people are a bit wary with a management change but as far as I could see there is no difference. Don't be put off by a couple of negative reviews. I eat in here quite a bit and it's just as good as it's always been.
I haven't had a Sunday roast this good in a pub or restaurant in years! The beef was incredibly tender, just like how you would cook it at home, and the roast potatoes were perfectly fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The Yorkshire puddings were massive, they could hardly fit many in the oven at once! The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, with prompt service that went above and beyond. I highly recommend The Old White Horse and can't wait to go back again. Fantastic job, everyone at the restaurant!
My dad had roast lamb and I had roast beef everything was delicious, hot, plenty of roast potatoes with extra individual grave pots, my dad is 85 and finished all of his lunch. The staff and Landlady are wonderful and so welcoming, it is a lovely family pub and restaurant plenty of space they are always so accommodating and super friendly. I gave a 5 rating as it has everything you need for home cooked food and a great cosy bar, friendly locals....in a lovely environment. Reserva una mesa ahora
We have not long finished a thoroughly enjoyable takeaway Sunday roast from here. A little wary initially doing it as have never done this before. Every bit of it was great, all fresh vegetables, cauliflower cheese, carrots, parsnip, green beans, cabbage, 5 large roast potatoes, huge yorkshire pudding and lovely tender lamb, and gravy in a separate pot. Very full up now! Will certainly do it again. Well done and thank you.
Just had take away Sunday Roast. Roast beef, with all the trimmings including (possibly) the biggest Yorkshire Pudding in the world! What a delicious Sunday treat... even included a small bottle of wine. When I got home (4.5 miles away), the food was still hot and how great was it, having a roast at home without slaving over a hot stove? If this is to be our “new normal,” I’d like more, please.
Stopped there for a coffee and lunch after a bike ride with my boyfriend. Felt very uncomfortable and not welcome because of the staff and other customers. Waited outside for 25 minutes for 2 coffees. Not only all regular customers coming after us been served first, we did not get what we ordered and left.
