Instead of going to our usual spot for Sunday lunch, which requires one of us to drive, we decided to try out the Old White Lion in East Finchley. The food was presented nicely, with my wife ordering roast sirloin of beef and myself opting for a rack of lamb. I live round the corner from the pub, so I like to pop in from time to time for a couple of pints. As I’m local I’ve got to know most of the people behind the bar enough to know they’re all a decent bunch. I like the fact that they and the pub cater for every walk of life- be that like myself, popping in for a quiet drink, a family for a meal, or even (given the size of the venue) large events whilst still serving their faithful locals. Very disappointing, what was advertised was not available. Apparently sold out. We showed up at 12.30 and they had sold out of the lunch lamb special which was odd as they were not any other customers in the restaurant, We were not allowed to sit at requested tables they were ‘reserved’ but nobody showed for these tables. The steak pie although tasted ok had maybe 3 small pieces of meet for £20. The service was so slow that I went to the bar twice to order drinks and deserts. A service charge was added to the bill which I have no problem with if the service is good. We paid our bill at the bar as waited 15 minutes for the bill. Arranged a surprise party for my wife’s birthday. Amalia and her staff were absolutely outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble. We booked the room at the back of the pub which was perfect for 30 guests. Food was fantastic We picked the Platinum buffet and everyone commented on the quality and amount available. Can’t thank you enough for making it a brilliant day and would highly recommend you to anyone looking for a local venue. You will be seeing us again

Absolutely wonderful place! From popping in for a quick drink to meeting up with friends or family for food and drinks to a Sunday lunch it’s got it all! The staff are absolutely lovely, friendly and courteous! Great atmosphere with such originality about the place; it’s really warm and inviting. Major plus is it’s also dog friendly!!

This charming pub is a bit pricey when it comes to drinks, but the food is excellent. I have dined here multiple times and highly recommend the fish and chips as well as the chicken schnitzel.
I recently hosted a birthday party for 60 people at the Old White Lion and it was fantastic. The food was delicious and the staff was very attentive, making it a wonderful evening.
