Underwhelming experience. We hod high expectations but they weren’t met. We waited a long time for our starters and they were tepid when they arrived. We had to send back the children’s meal as it was overdone but cold at the same time. The food had probably been waiting under lamps in the kitchen for too long. Adult main courses were fine but the service was cursory and distant. No smiles or interaction, especially not from the man we assumed was the boss’. We felt ‘processed’ rather than welcomed. It’s such a lovely looking pub, in an idyllic setting close to the reservoir, but the welcome is not as warm as the open fire. We were disappointed and we wouldn’t rush back, which is a shame.
My wife and myself visited The Old windmill, prior to Christmas for a nice meal which we both very much enjoyed). At the end of the meal we were given a brown envelope saying do not open) We did open this, as im sure almost everyone else would, to find a very nice voucher saying 25% off for our next visit. So I called to book a table and asked about my voucher to be told it was no longer valid, as we had opened the envelope, and this had to be opened by the waitress only. A very poor marketing strategy, in our view, if not a strange sort of ploy. Very disappointed considering we have always liked The Old Windmill
I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. Despite booking a table in advance, there was no reserved table waiting for us upon arrival. We were seated away from the main area, down some stairs that were not accessible for individuals with disabilities. The wine we ordered with our meal arrived when we only had a few sips left. Throughout our meal, no one checked in to see if everything was satisfactory, despite multiple staff members passing by our table.
Have been to the old windmill a few times previously and had a great time but my latest experience was extremely disappointing. I had the chicken pappardelle. The chicken was dry and crusty, so overcooked and the pasta simply bland. I mentioned it to the waitress who said she'd inform the manager but there was no manager to be seen. The place looked like it was run by teenagers. I messaged them on their Instagram account but received no response. Not likely to go back now

We had a great experience at this restaurant because they allowed us to bring our dog. The menu had a great selection, including options for kids. However, two of us ordered the tortellini and found it to be rubbery, lacking seasoning, and dry. We were never checked on during our meal, and the waitress didn't ask if everything was fine when she cleared our plates, even though I had left over half of my meal. On a positive note, my husband enjoyed his fish pie.
We love this pub, great atmosphere, always accommodate our pushchair (and baby . Visited before christmas and was gifted a voucher with an unknown discount inside despite what the previous reviewer has said it stated in big bold letters DO NOT OPEN the waiter opened it as he gave us our bill and we had a 25% voucher inside. Returning again on 13th feb to use our second one :
A disappointment really. Our daughter had the children’s halloumi fries which on the menu came with cucumber, it actually came with green chilli!! She ate one thinking it was the cucumber before her mouth was on fire!! Service was very slow which was different to last visit and the manager appeared unapologetic and disinterested in the kitchens failings and our concerns.
My friends and I had a great meal here after work to celebrate one of our team members' new role. The service was good, although some of our drinks came out slowly and it took a long time to get the bill. The food was delicious and well-presented.

Unfortunately we could not eat here as the only table we could book was outside under a canopy . It was far too cold and some of the heaters weren't working. Very disappointed as we hoped to celebrate my daughter's birthday here
