The Peacock At Rowsley

This hotel is not ‘dog friendly’ it is dog tolerant and I believe there is a difference. You cannot have any meals either in the dining room ok but not in the bar or lounge either accompanied by your faithful hound. I did not take kindly to the suggestion to leave my dog in the car having driven for many hours to get there. The hotel and rooms are comfortable but a small fridge would have been a good idea to have fresh milk with tea or in my case to store dog food. Considering the room rate I was surprised at the lack of amenities. There was no dog bowl for water or anything for Fido to sleep on. I had a lovely 3-night stay at The Peacock! I booked the stay to get some much needed R&R and to do some walking in the Peaks with my brother and that is exactly what I got. The staff were really helpful, the food was delicious, the garden was very peaceful and the breakfast was exceptional (the Eggs Benedict was a highlight)! I really liked the morning newsletter with interesting facts and a daily riddle, a really nice touch. I would definitely stay here again!!

You definitely get what you pay for at this restaurant. It may not be cheap, but it is worth every penny! The place is absolutely spotless, perfectly situated, and serves excellent food. The staff are friendly and professional. We come back here every year because the quality is consistently outstanding.
