The Saddlers Arms

I was disappointed in the pub yesterday evening. We arrived early and were shown to our table on arrival. However the serving team need some more training. They were quite young and not very attentive and seemed happy to stand together by their workstation rather than attend to our needs. We were asked for our drinks order which I declined as wanted to use my CAMRA card for the discount at the bar. I was advised at the bar that they werent giving the CAMRA discount even though there is a sign on the door saying they do. On returning to the table the menu was still to arrive and when we eventually got them we chose the over 55s carvery, as noted in the menu, only to be advised that they are not doing the offer in December. Again disappointing. However, the carvery itself was wonderfully tasty and plentiful. We had ordered wine and water which was still to arrive even though we had picked up our carvery. After dinner we retired to the bar which was much quieter than the restaurant as by then it was nearly full and there were lots of excited noisy children in there. I went to the toilet and noticed one of the cubicles was damaged. I reported it to the barman who told me he had also noticed the problem and blamed it on builders Thursday but didnt do anything about it. If the new owner and staff continue to live off the good reputqation of the previous owners they will soon loose customers if the decline is not halted.

Lovely carvery for our large party celebrating a special birthday. Food was excellent, staff were helpful and sorted out everything we asked for. A special mention should be given to Kim who made sure everything ran smoothly and that the event was a great success for us. Waitresses Alicia and Natasha also deserve thanks for their hard work.

We have eaten here before and the value and quality is always great. The staff are super helpful and friendly. As well as the restaurant there is a great relaxing area for drinks and board games.

It used to be so good. Tonight I am grateful I didn’t need the Heinrich manoeuvre trying to swallow the beef on the carvery such a shame to see the place six months later

Despite being let down by staff 14 of us had a super evening, excellent service, delicious carvery as usual, a thoroughly enjoyable evening
