Scones are our ‘go to’ bakery treat. So we we were riding the Pinella’s Trail we screeched to a stop when we saw the name of this bakery: The Scone Age. Could it be true! A place with enough sense and confident to feature that magical word in its very name! We jumped off the bikes and raced each other to the entrance. Dang, the door was locked. It was a Monday and the bakery was only open Thu-Sun. No trouble: We planned for a return ride to Dunedin on Thursday….It was worth the wait. This place is scone heaven! And, not just the usually blueberry or cranberry either. They had more than a half dozen flavors (even after having sold out of a few earlier in the morning). We would place it in our...

I visit every year my shiny and discovered scone age during our last visit. I always appreciate the new vegan-friendly places that pop up. I ordered the vegan/gf zimtrolle. To be honest, it didn't look like it wasn't-vegan's counterpart. it looked more like a Scone/Biscuit in shape. but it was actually quite delicious. my only conclusion is the entire vegan baked goods are also gluten-free. I don't like it when automatically put the two. I am not gf, so I prefer my vegan goodies with “regular” flour. the gentleman on the theke said that the Cassava meal works well with vegan wine, because it does not bind the ice, milk component in it, etc. and keeps good (or something like that). I don't ag...

this restaurant is very expensive, and not everything on the menu will be true for most American palettes. I liked how this place in all sugar has not overused and has a lot of gluten-free options. I mean, lots. the scones are surprisingly moist and sweeter than I am used to, which makes me a scones fan right away. the cream cheese is smoother and not exactly like the stuff I'm used to. the crustless quiche and the salate were beautiful, but the bagels and cinnamon were on the species and wise dry as the scones are in the rule. no fan. great staff, but I doubt that I will return if dunedin has so many other breakfast options that allow me to buy souvenirs.

I used to think scones were dry rock like biscuits. SPOILER ALERT: THEY ARE DELICIOUS HERE. The scones that this business makes are so wonderful I recommend everyone go there and at least get one of the traditional Scottish scones with clotted cream and jam. London fog tea is also absolutely delicious!

all their vegan scene are gluten-free. when we asked, the owner did not seem to know the difference. he said the recipe is not borrowing. we said we had made vegan skorone without any ice or butter and he murmured something under his breath. Maybe he had a bad day.

I was lucky to find this fantastic restaurant! The owner, Larry, was a really nice guy who went out of his way to accommodate my mother and me. The food was delicious and freshly made. Highly recommended, and I will definitely be back in the future!
