The Vaults in Edinburgh is an exceptional whisky bar that I've had the pleasure of being a member of for a couple of years now. While both of their Edinburgh locations are fantastic, The Vaults holds a special place in my heart due to its authentic and cozy atmosphere.The opulent jewel tones and warm lighting make this bar a perfect winter hideaway. It's the kind of place where you can sit back, relax, and savour a dram or two of some of the best whiskies in the world. The knowledgeable staff is always on hand to guide you through their extensive selection and help you find something perfect for your tastes.
I had the chance to be invited here by a friend who is a member and it was a once in a lifetime experience! The curated selection of whiskies here was breathtaking. Each month, there is a new selection of limited release bottles to drink and, for member, to buy. The writeups for each are very well done! The food was also nice and hearty.. I think I will join the society and get bottles sent to me!
Some of the best food I've had in Scotland, and the prices weren't that high at all. I had the venison loin with venison and guinnie fowl terrine with a venison jus. It was perfectly cooked. I then had the cheese board and all the cheeses from Mellis were brilliant cheeses I had never tried before. Whisky was obviously fantastic. Beautiful building as well. Very nice place.
Great place to spend a few hours chilling out. It is members only. We joined after a recommendation from someone. There is a pub locally which you don't have to be a member where there is a wide range of whiskeys from this place available. We had some bare snacks whilst there which were very nice as well. Staff really pleasant and helpful.

They could do so much more with the food here. I love this place, am a member, and enjoy every time I come here. How could you not? However, I do think that the quality of the food that comes out of the kitchen could step up a bit.
Unfortunately the Dining room on the second floor is not open anymore so the atmosphere is quite cosy. Would have been nicer to sit in the room with the bar. Food was very good and the Whiskys stand for themselves.
Great food, lovely venue and an amazing choice of whiskeys. Bar keepers were very knowledgeable and could always recommend a good dram from your taste profile. Wish we had a branch of the society near us.
Atmospheric mileu and fantastic range of whiskies. Your choice is by taste rather than name which removes the snobbery of choice and encourages you to have the Whisky your palate enjoys.

A brilliant night of whiskies, beers and steak. Once again the SMWS excelled itself, matching beers with whiskies, over a delicious steak dinner.
Outstanding venue with an amazing selection of whisky. So much value in getting membership to this society.
