The Seafood Joint Market Grill

Reviews must be fake or people have low expectations for the food they eat. It started with a simple glass of unsweetened ice tea which I requested lemon and sugar. I was served a lukewarm glass of ice tea with no lemon. I eventually had to get it myself. Clams were ok but nothing special. Fish taco was bland. Blackened should be flavorful and spicy. This was neither. Hushpuppies were also bland and tasted reheated. Tuna taco was the worst. Supposedly the tuna was delivered in the morning. Tuna was barely cooked and tough. It was coated with some type of sweet sticky glaze which only made it worse. It was served on a chipped plate with sloppy grilled veggies. I get the kitchy beach vibe but...

Had the peel and eat shrimp, Blackened Grouper tacos, and Wife had the blackened sea scallops. Some of the best seafood we've ever had!!! Food was bursting with flavor, cooked perfectly and price was reasonable considering the amount of food and quality. The owner is really nice, a local, and from the area. Do yourself, friends, and family a favor GO HERE AND EAT SOME FRESH SEAFOOD!!!!! Sadly, they are closing down August 31 because the landlord is moving in a beauty salon and massage parlor?! WHY for the love of fresh seafood are you not allowing the owner to stay and provide this wonderful food to everyone who comes to visit the area!!! This restaurant offers fresh local fish in a quaint setting that avoids the upscale frills. The waitress was friendly and engaging, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. Sitting just a short distance from the crab steamer really whets your appetite as the aroma of freshly cooked crabs fills the air. The hushpuppies were served piping hot and I couldn’t resist popping them into my mouth right away. The blackened triple tail, scallops, and shrimp were all excellent choices. The straightforward, affordable dining area combined with high-quality seafood and appealing presentation makes for a great value. Unfortunately, as I drove by yesterday, I noticed a sign on the door indicating that the restaurant is permanently closed. I took a quick look inside, and it appears to be emptied out. The Seafood Joint at 217 Avenida Madera and its neighbor, Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream at 219 Avenida Madera, have both closed for good. According to the Davidson family, the landlords of the building that houses these businesses, their leases were not renewed as of September 1, and neither business sought other leasing options.
