One of the oldest still standing places for a meal in Brisbane, the Ship Inn has quite the history to it once being a watering hole to the sailors (plus the vicinity to the Maritime Museum to boot) transforming overtime to something all residents are at least acutely aware of. Some colleagues and I met for lunch at The Ship Inn last week. I went into the meal quite skeptical...my past experiences have been mediocre at best, but I was advised that they've completely revamped their menu in recent months.<br/ <br/ Myself and two others ordered the Beef Cheeks, while others in our party ordered the Chicken Wrap, Halloumi and Pumpkin Salad, and a couple Burgers.<br/ <br/ Much to my happy surprise, the Beef Cheeks were tender and delicious! The Beef Cheeks themselves rated a 4, but unfortunately the mashed potatoes they sat atop were absolutely chocked full of spring onions (scallions) and rated a 2. Overall, the dish rated a 3. Fantastic meal at the weekend. Pub meals in Brisbane can be unimaginative. Steak or fish and chips being the usual choices. The Ship Inn had these but also some other great choices too. I opted for the barramundi (and made a mental note to try the vegetarian basket next time). The fish was cooked to perfection and came with some great accompaniments salad and some baked potato wedges. We ate in the beer garden which was lovely but they offer a quieter area inside as well. I wouldn't classify it as fine dining but it was a very good pub meal.
Convenient location and really nice staff at Southbank. Food is pretty expensive, but food quality. Our group of 3 all ordered fish and chips and the fish was really fresh and well cooked, one of us had vegetables instead of salad and they were sautéed -and delicious. The decor and space is a little bit basic, especially compared to other restaurants in the area that have a view of Southbank. Overall a nice place, very popular for drinks and social occasions.

Staff were friendly and efficient, serving sizes were small but food was delicious. Philadelphia chicken is a must-have, but again, quite small. Not cheap for pub food but worth it for the quality. Imagine fine-dining mixed with pub food. Local brews available which is a nice touch.<br/
It’s a very quiet restaurant located in south Bank. A clean and relaxing version of Plough inn. No loud music which is wonderful. We had fries and veggie stack. The veggie stack was very tasty, well presented. It’s a bit pricy, but definite worth trying.
I have eaten here a few times. Not only is the food amazing but the venue itself is very beautiful has great vibes. The staff are friendly every time I have been with friends there has been no complaints. Definitely a favourite place of mine to eat!!
Great for a large group, generous portions and good wine prices, the selection is a little limited but when you are with friends it's not that important. I had porterhouse with prawns. Friends had chips, vegetarian salad, nachos and rice.

In the quieter end of Southbank, this classic building has a restaurant downstairs bar upstairs. Food is decent in size, reasonably priced and very flavoursome. The calebreze pasta is delish!! Alfesco dining. Need to get back there!
Fast and effecient during peak service hours and food is beautifully presented. Our group of 25 last night was well served and we were all very happy with everything!
