The Shoulder of Mutton is our favourite venue for eating out at the weekend. It is easy to get to, cosy, with real fires. The beer is excellent, well kept and a good temperature. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is home-cooking style and really flavoursome. It is easy to book a table on the website. They also have occasional events which are very popular.
Welcome and service was the let down. We were not acknowledged whilst waiting at the bar. A simple i will be with you shortly , would have done. Nor were we offered menus, these had to be obtained from the bar. We later discovered that there was also a specials menu available. This would otherwise have been a 5 star visit.
It is such a lovely drive to get there. Sits in a very cute village. They cater to people with gluten sensitivities. Food is very tasty. People are very helpful and kind. We love bringing our dog and love going on date night.
We enjoyed a delightful Christmas lunch, featuring fresh, well-prepared dishes in a fantastic atmosphere. The cozy open fire kept us warm, and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. We will certainly return in 2019! Reserva una mesa ahora
Once again we visited this wonderful hostelry (on our way home from Harrogate Flower Show). My husband’s regular comment when visiting is “I wish we lived nearby, I would be here every day!” Good job we don’t live nearby
Unfortunately, we didn't feel that the food was quite up to the standard experienced on previous visits, but that will not stop us returning in the future.
Great traditional Yorkshire rural pub. Good food with a wide selection for lunch. Food quality is excellent and portions are satisfying.
