“What we want is to create a Kellett Street dining strip,” says Nina Purton, the bubbly owner of The Silly Tart Kitchen. As former resident of the suburb, I’m of course reminded of the eighties and nineties, when prior to Premier Mike Baird) the suburb’s bars and restaurants were thriving. Purton believes it’s high time that we relearn how to do more than just go out to dinner. In attempt to restore our bar hopping, live music culture she has come to the party by opening up from 5pm-9pm Wednesday to Friday evenings, with occasional live music and a well-priced supper menu. In this fairy-lit secret garden setting you’ll find rustic, homely, unsophisticated but charming food.If you are going o...

I love this cute place. It’s super close to the Cross station, but tucked away in a quite street away from the grime. It’s a lovely old world charming venue, with a herbal garden that they use in the food and soulful French jazz playing softly in the background. The outdoor courtyard is just lovely to sit in. The service is great, with the owner personally serving the guests and offering expertise on each item on the menu. My coffee was smooth and lovely. My breakfast of corn fitters was great, with fluffy plentiful quantities of corn fritters. The relish was delicious and I would have liked more as they jazzed up the corn fritters. Likewise some move avocado would have been nice as they ran...
A hidden gem in the middle of Darlinghurst, with a lovely rustic decor and lots of natural light. They smoke their own bacon on the premises, though I didn't get to try it since I don't eat pork. Incredible attention to detail with the food, all of which tasted wonderful and the presentation just gorgeous. It's been awhile since I was there so I don't remember the dish names, but a picture paints a thousand words, so here are some of the shots I took from my lunch there.
Cool brunch and drinks spot located conveniently just off Kings Cross Station. The vibes are hip and very green, love the plants and the timber wooden oriented interiors. Great coffee, service and food we had THE LOT (basically the big brekky), and it was a satisfying start to the morning! Reserva una mesa ahora
Great place for brunch. Staff are lovely and provide great service. Atmosphere is quirky and fun, but not pretentious. Great outdoor area to site on a nice afternoon with friends. Only let down was the coffee, but more than made up for by food and staff. High recommend a visit
I celebrated my birthday here last night (private function), I was very impressed with the food, friendly service and atmosphere! Such a lovely place and variety of food and drinks, they took care of the special dietary requirements very well too. Highly recommend!
Absolutely loved this place! We hosted a bottomless brunch for a hen-do and all the staff were so accommodating of our party. We were able to set up a camera stand, decorate our table and everyone enjoyed their food. Such a great deal for the bottomless drinks!

Having been a Kings Cross resident for many years, I have a soft spot for this suburb, particularly as it was prior to Mike Baird's unjust lockout laws,

"I was satisfied with the food. Burgers are between $14.90 and $15.90. The drinks are more expensive than other places, and the free Wi-Fi is slow and stops working intermittently."
