Stopped for lunch after a walk on the beach with our dog. Extensive menu and specials board. Ordered the cod fish cakes as a main and the pie of the day. Fish cakes were delicious, large and served with sweet chilli sauce, salad and chips. Hubby had the pie which was steak,ale and Stilton. It was home made, packed full of filling and served with mash, peas and gravy. Our dog was delighted with her nuggets from the doggy menu. Apparently a new chef, he’s made a great impression on us.
We dined at this restaurant while visiting the beach and sat outside in the sunshine with our dog. It was a lovely spot with plenty of seating and beautiful views. The menu was reasonably priced and offered some fabulous dishes. We tried the loaded fries, which were amazing - the best I've ever had. We also ordered onion rings and chicken to share, which arrived quickly, hot, and very tasty. The prices were very reasonable. Overall, we highly recommend this restaurant.
The staff were under a lot of pressure but we weren’t sure why as there were only a few tables occupied. Our order for food took 30 minutes to just be taken and then the meals all arrived at different times with 25 mins between the first and last. We had to send two back because they were stone cold and one was completely wrong. The staff were polite but seemed obviously stressed. We wouldn’t visit again.
I really enjoyed this charming pub, which I visited a couple of times while on vacation nearby. The food was fantastic and the staff were incredibly friendly. Even our dog had a great time during our visit! They had board games available that our children loved, and we all had a fantastic afternoon playing games by the cozy fire. We had a fantastic lunch at the Smugglers Inn while on vacation nearby. We highly recommend it. We originally came in for a drink to avoid the rain, but we all ended up staying for lunch, even our dog (thanks to Chef Paul) who devoured his Sunday roast meat in seconds. The staff was very friendly and there was a cozy fire that was a welcoming touch on a cold day.

This is a casual dog friendly welcoming pub that does tasty plentiful food and a not to be missed Sunday carvery. We booked each time we went as it seemed very popular with locals and tourists. They also do a dog menu.
