The Spice Avenue Balti Restaurant

I added a review for this restaurant when I hadn't been there. I like my Indian and I was compelled to write that review due to a whinging review I read about spice avenue and the owners response which made me laugh ...when I was looking to find the number 1 curry restaurant in Brisbane.. I finally ventured to spice avenue last night. I'm torn. I'm a huge fan of one in Morningside and I thought it would be hard to beat. Needless to say I can see why this restaurant gets its great reviews. There are points of difference too long to go into but overall I think spice might just pip the Morningside favourite who I have been going to for a long time. The service was great. Food great although can't say I enjoyed the Sheesh but that's personal taste rather than the Sheesh itself but overall it was a warm fun place to go to and enjoy a curry.. except...I forgot to order the chips haha!!! I've got leftovers for lunch and I'm looking forward to that!

We visited this restaurant yesterday on a recommendation. Being an expat I was excited to try this but I must say I was left a little disappointed. The meals were served in big pots and rice in small dishes. I ordered the chicken tikka masala but it was more like chicken tikka in tomato soup. The poppadoms were fantastic. The naan bread was adequate. Overall I found it a little disappointing and nothing like I remember from the UK as promised. The staff were absolutely fantastic and friendly.

Checked into Spice Avenue after Sailing on Wednesday. Firstly its the cosy atmosphere, then its the delicious smells...salivation starts. Service by lovely young staff with red Manchester Untied look T-shirts who guide you through the menu. Balti is an aluminium bowl with handles...yes the servings are generous. Naan bread is fresh, made from scratch and yum!! Mate who recommended this place says its the very best curry in Australia... I now believe him. Its a rippa

A great way to clear the nasal passages washed down with a few beers. Great flavours- however a little disappointed with the excessive sauce levels in the meals. A pity, but would return

The best Balti in Australia! Fantastic food, staff and service! Can totally recommend the Keema, Palak Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala and the Chili Chicken dishes - huge portions!
