Was hoping for a great meal as it 's the first time we 've managed to get out since having a baby 3 weeks ago and organising childcare etc is always tough. 10mins after ordering we were told the starter that was labelled 'Gluten Free ' isn 't actually gluten free and was mislabelled on the menu so my partner had to change her order which of course is disappointment. After perusing the TripAdvisor reviews for this pub, our expectations were quite high. Regrettably, the dining experience left much to be desired. The fish in the Fish Chips dish was excessively greasy, and the bread board, touted as rustic, seemed more akin to something from a supermarket shelf than an artisanal creation. While the staff exhibited commendable friendliness and assistance, it's apparent that this establishment is in dire need of a renovation and a thorough cleaning. Our daughter booked the table after having a stunning meal there two years ago. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived. We asked for still water not spring I expected tap water as the water arrived in a glass bottle yetcost £4.25 . I asked for a white wine spritzer with Chardonnay I was given a large Chardonnay took it to the bar and was told no one told him to put soda in cost £9.25….the service was poor all round. Disappointing. Had lunch here today with family. Service was OK but the food compared to other visits was remarkably underwhelming. Burgers looked OK and apparently were OK but the Beer Battered fish was dreadful. I was expecting a nice chunky piece of fish with a crispy beer batter instead what I got was something similar to what I would pick up from the freezer cabinet at the local supermarket to stick in the oven. Chose this place for a business meeting as was half way between us. Bad choice. Food portions were appallingly small. Two of us ordered fish and chips £19.50), my fish was just slightly larger than a fish finger that you would get in a fish finger sandwich elsewhere. I had all of 10 chips in this little container. To be honest, I was still hungry but when we finished the main course, the kitchen had closed so no desserts. The others were not too impressed with their food either...one had the Seafood Linguine £21.95, again a small portion. Very disappointing as it is lovely to eat outside in the sunshine.
It was obvious something had changed as the menu placed on the table was not the same as that on the website. There were some old favourites, but the duck salad, previously delicious, was duck served on just lettuce... alot of it and in a bowl. No finesse and so disappointing. The staff were friendly, but did not notice that there was no spoon for the soup and no cutlery for the main course and no salt and pepper. This is a great location and we wish the new team well, but if they are going to charge these prices then the offering does need to improve.
Staff good , food very disappointing, not great lunch menu. And why do they coat everything in spicy oils , not every one likes that, my father had Sea bass which was spoilt by some sort of oil dressing also very expensive had no potatoes included , my beef sandwich was also spoilt by dressing
Fabulous meal to celebrate GCSE’s. We hadn’t been for a while but the place certainly had a different vibe. The menu was great and as a fish lover there was a so much choice. Most of all the service was brilliant, personal and warm and clearly very well trained team members.

Bad , food , bad service , new owner doesn't seem to make the effort as the last team that worked there , food was small portions and not much care in presentation, personally I'd say its overpriced , best avoided .
The best Sunday roast I have ever had! The beef was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be going again.
