We stayed one night at The Steampacket and were blown away by the charm of the innkeeper and barkeeper. Our room (room 6) was large and clean, with a comfortable bed and gorgeous bathroom with tub and shower. Complimentary tea and coffee supplies were provided. The pub downstairs was warm with a log fire and friendly local patrons. Sausage rolls appeared at the bar around 4:00 in the afternoon, and they were a hit with all. It rained while we were at the Steampacket so we didn't take a drink on the patio overlooking the river, but I bet that's a spectacular choice in better weather. Looking forward to visiting again!
It was only a quick visit on a rainy day. There is a lovely deck and beer garden next to the canal. And the pub is clean, with friendly staff. They do Sunday lunch, which sounds very good! But no food through the week. However we were told we could take our own food in (several shops and food outlets near by) during the weekday open hours. We will be visiting again.

Great local pub, very dog friendly,patio/decking area on canal side and garden seating, large carpark, enjoyed our visits while visiting the area from Spain. Kid friendliness: Large outside area for the kids to go mental : Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5

This pub is absolutely lovely. It was my first time here and I felt amazingly welcome. The bar staff was top-notch, earning them a 5-star rating. The atmosphere was lovely, thanks to Jamie.
