My family and I have been vacationing at the lakes for many years, and one of our favorite things to do is visit Sun Inn. We have developed a wonderful friendship with the owners over the years, and they always make us feel like part of the family. It all started years ago when I brought my daughter in for a slice of the amazing chocolate strawberry cake when she was just 10 years old...and she loved it! I stumbled upon this hidden gem while staying at the local campsite. I noticed this quaint little fish and chip shop and decided to pay a visit on our second night. They accept card payments, which was convenient, and the food was absolutely delicious. I was pleased to find out that they are also dog-friendly, which saved us from sitting outside on a chilly evening. We will definitely be returning! The staff provided friendly service and the food was fantastic. I highly recommend trying the curry and the pie for dessert.
This was one of the worst meals I have ever had. The batter on the supposedly lightly battered fish was uncooked and ended up in the trash. My friend had a similar experience with their fish, and they also received a reheated battered sausage that was prepared the day before. It was such a waste of money that I wouldn't even feed it to the birds. I will not be returning to this restaurant again.
Came across this café whilst cycling through Hawkshead. Very pleased we did because the food was delicious. Can recommend the open seafood sandwich and their assam tea. If I hadn't needed to get back on the bike to continue our journey, I would have sampled their scrummy looking cakes! Sat outside on a lovely sunny day and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Friendly welcome too.

We phoned in advance to order fish and scampi and chips for a family of five. The food was prepared promptly and was ready at the expected time. The fish was coated in a light and crispy batter, while the chips were the perfect combination of soft and crispy. Despite being a 16-minute drive away, the food was still warm and delicious when we got it home.
We stopped in for a mid day snack and oh, what a display of yummy looking desserts! We just had tea and cake, but the lunch menu looked tempting as well. This is't just a cafe, but also a little boutique with a lot of nice merchandise, not junk. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They also have outdoor seating. Great place to take a break.
We had a wonderful stop at this restaurant in the mid afternoon. The staff was very friendly and the cakes were deliciously big. I would suggest dropping by if you are in Hawkshead. Although we didn't try them, the sandwiches also looked appealing.
Staying in Hawkshead as three couples, called in here Friday evening for 6 portions of Fish n Chips. Large portions all freshly cooked and served by welcoming friendly staff, we couldn't have asked for better. Thank You

I was eager to try this fish and chip shop, but despite advertising that it was open on the two nights I attempted to visit, it was closed. Very disappointing. I would not recommend relying on this place.
