Really welcoming pub in this delightful village, midway between Charnwood Forest and North Leicester city. Friendly clientele and no tumbleweed moment as strangers like us walked through the door on a quiet Monday night. Excellent curry night when we visited recently with a choice of...three different recipes, inc a vegetarian, Thai Green Curry and Cambodian chicken for The owner could not have been more hospitable which coupled with his well kept range of real ales, continental lagers and ciders made for a mighty fine start to the week. Well done!
We had a wonderful three course meal last night . Gazpacho soup to start vege not chicken and vegetable pie and cheesecake. Menu on the face book page. Pie was absolutely gorgeous and probably the most enjoyed vege dinner I've had out for years. Would...love to see it in the Sunday lunch menu one day . I'm so pleased this pub has survived lock down it's great to be back. Get a table booked for dinner it's consistently better than the grub in some of the surrounding villages.
Don't order the scampi. It comes in a basket filled out with paper to make it look fuller than it is, and the chips are a small portion, on a wooden board. Really just avoid the food, it is expensive and you'll still be hungry...afterwards. The pub itself is pleasant if you avoid the evenings where it can get noisy. It could be a great pub if they sorted the food issue out and made sure rowdy people understood that it isn't acceptable.
An absolutely beautiful evening had by the whole family. Food was excellent, high quality and presented beautifully. I had fish cake as a starter, pan poached chicken for a main and the fruit crumble for dessert, I enjoyed every bit of it! Other family members...enjoyed tandoori chicken salad, steak and chips and orange chocolate brownie. The staff were lovely and we all felt very safe while there. We will definitely be going again.

Tonight we went for fish and chips and our year old had a burger. The food was delicious! Homemade chips were devine and the fish was cooked perfectly! I normally don't like batter but this was amazing and we will be going back soon...for fish and chips!
I love this pub so much the garden is so pretty and the staff are awesome. so pleased its my local! Food also a step up from regular pub food. DELICIOUS. cant wait to spend my summer under the weeping willow with a pint...and some chips!
Lovely dog-friendly old village pub, fantastic food, good selection of beer and spirits, friendly welcome, real fires and now featuring the world’s shortest bannister! Well worth a visit.
This hidden gem offers excellent food friendly service and beautiful beer the service was very good all staff work hard and it shows all credit to the all staff keep it it up....

Quirky pub, good service. Very nice well cooked food in generous portions. A good visit. Limited parking with a narrow entrance. Be careful. On the main street, easy to find
Tomato and basil soup to start . Fantastic roast with the best roast potatoes I have ever had including my own !! . Chocolate brownie and caramel ice cream . Delicious .
