Have just visited the restaurant with two friends for lunch. I am saddened to say that although the pub has recently been refurbished the food and service remained very much the same. I ordered chicken and chips from the 2 course lunch menu, the chicken breast was very small and so over cooked it was virtually inedible. The only reason I didn't complain is for two reasons firstly my two friends had their meals which we had waited an age for) and if mine was replaced they would have long finished theirs before i got mine again and secondly I have complained in there before and the staff become very hostile. Had been travelling for nearly 3 hours. Come to the Talbot as the food is apparently really good. The kitchen closes at 9pm. However we got there at 8pm was told they are still doing food by a lady behind bar she was lovely. However when going to order food at 8:20ish went to order food and was told that the kitchen was closed due to them being overly busy and trying to get food out in time for everyone else. It was dead when we got there I understand it might have been busy before. I work with M&B and I know that you cannot close the kitchen that early just because it was busy and only if the RBM has authorized it. Also the beer tasted like it could do with a line clean.
We booked for 20 people for an after work get together . The manager was very helpful in helping to organise it . She gave us a separate area to ourselves to enjoy . We provided the menu choices in advance . This made things easier on the night . The service was excellent staff were very friendly. The food considering the price was outstanding I have paid twice that amount and not had such a nice meal . The only downside was that the fixed menu which we ate from only had one vegetarian choice although I’m told it was very nice by those that had it .
This pub is welcoming and has a good variety of beers available. I have not tried the food, so I cannot speak to that aspect. The interior is a bit outdated, with carpeting throughout. Unfortunately, this pub is not dog-friendly, which is a shame considering the location and the number of local dog owners. I would give it 4 stars if dogs were allowed. Update: As of March 2024, Talbot now allows dogs. True to my word, I have increased my rating back up to 4 stars. It is now a more welcoming place with a few well-behaved dogs present.

Had a buffet spread after a relative’s funeral. The staff were mostly polite- waiting staff slightly abrupt at times but I can only assume this was down to a busy/stressful time of day so no harm done. The food was lovely and the staff were proactive at clearing away. The staff reminded us to enter our vehicle registrations which was very helpful and were polite at the bar. I would recommend the Talbot Inn for occasions again. Thank you.
For Sunday Lunch don't forget to log your parked car on the handy computer. Try and remember all the orders of your guests for starters, mains and puddings for when you go to the bar to order your entire meal, or you can ignore the staff and order on your phone from the table. The beef rib is 30% fat and bone if you like that sort of thing. The chicken is a leg with no breast meat.
Visited last night for a family dinner and as always the food was outstanding ,always hot and served quickly The food never disappoints and the waiting staff always make us feel welcome Thankyou again for a lovely evening
Went there yesterday for lunch simple lunch to ask for took 30mins and when it turned up chicken was well over cooked and looked disgusting I had gammon tough as old boots chips dry no taste won’t be going again

I went to the restaurant with friends and found the food to be very reasonably priced. I would definitely visit again for both the food and drinks.
We had a fantastic Sunday dinner. Plenty of options and not crowded on our visit.
