We had a wonderful time at JR’s! I haven't visited this restaurant in nearly 25-30 years, and I’m not sure why, as I’ve always enjoyed dining here. Tonight, we came with friends and were impressed by the amazing and delicious selections on the menu. The prices were also very reasonable. I ordered the 24-ounce Natty Cowboy steak, which was absolutely fantastic. It was cooked to perfection and was incredibly tender, moist, and juicy! The meal also included a choice of soup or salad and one side; I went with the fries. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her dinner as well; she had the steak and the coconut shrimp. I can’t wait to return!
I have eaten at several J R’s Steakhouse’s and am usually happy. Our experience today was poor. The waitress didn’t seem like she felt like being there, the food was so so, The table was never cleared unless we asked for it to be taken away and that left the table messy and uncomfortable. Tea was warm instead of hot and a request for more hot water was served in an open pitcher instead of a thermal container. Overall I was disappointed since I suggested this restaurant with my family of 8 after visiting my husband at Calverton National Cemetary
We were a party of 5, coming in to celebrate a birthday. We looked on the website for early bird specials only to find out that this J&R was no longer doing them! Ok no biggie. Our waitress was scattered and forgot pretty much everything we asked for. One of us at the table asked for oil and vinegar dressing and got just the oil. Not only was the service bad the kitchen was not as smooth as it had been in the past. All in all it was a terrible experience. We are not returning there any time soon.
I recently dined with a large group, and the experience was quite disappointing. The only highlight was the Filet Mignon, which was quite good. Unfortunately, the broccoli was a mix of old and fresh pieces, the baked potato wasn't baked at all, and the appetizers were worse than frozen ones you might find at a big-name store. The price we paid for such terrible food felt like highway robbery. I'm truly disheartened and hope this review helps potential customers reconsider before dining here.

If you can eat, this place will challenge you with massive steaks! Came here for dinner one night and had the Prime Rib Special. Comes with all the fixings at a reasonable price. A nice dessert finished the meal as well as a couple drinks to wash it all down. Service was good, but a like of politics was being shown on TV's and regardless of what side of the fence you are on, its annoying. Stick to sports! I would come back if I am in the area again.
Been to J R’s many times, always great food. Ive had the steak many times, it’s always good and the prices are reasonable. They also have about 10 different sides to choose from, which is great. One MINOR complaint, they serve delicious, soft pumpernickel bread and give you frozen butter that rips the bread apart. Bummer.
I recently went out for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and priced reasonably. I especially loved the coconut shrimp and everything else I tried. The service was quick and friendly. They make an amazing Bloody Mary, and the lobster bisque is a must-try!
our group of 10 family members came here after my moms-interment on the calverton national cemetery. great menu selection, very good food and drink, and fast efficient service of ken. very relaxing and much needed

Waiting over an hour to be served. I’m almost over waiting for the food. Not worth it !! Not looking forward to another visit here.
Lots of food and yummy too. Always enjoy going here. They have the best marinated steaks, bread and onion soup.
