The Ugly Duckling, located in the center of Dawlish on The Strand, has recently changed ownership and what a difference! The new owners, Chris and Catherine, are friendly, cheerful and accommodating. The staff is helpful and always smiling. We were there late on a Friday evening, having just returned home to Dawlish from two months out of town and having no food in the fridge, we decided to pop into The Ugly Duckling. We ordered the hand battered cod, which was incredibly light. No gooey coating here! It was obviously freshly prepared. The Ugly Duckling is a fine dining restaurant that serves delicious modern European cuisine. The decor is stylish with a slightly old-fashioned charm, and it is conveniently situated on Wembley Park Drive near Wembley Park underground station, just down the hill from Wembley Stadium and Arena. While the prices for food and drinks are on the higher side, the quality of the food is excellent and very enjoyable. If you are seeking non-curry or Chinese dishes in a upscale setting, this is the perfect spot to dine in Wembley. The restaurant is more atmospheric during dinner service, making it a preferable option over lunch.
I went to Toby Carvery with my parents and four-year-old son and was pleasantly surprised. It was busy when we arrived but we were able to be seated right away. There is a possibility of having to wait if you arrive at the wrong time. The amount of meat served was generous and you could go back to the counter for more vegetables. The meal was enjoyable and the food was not cold, which can be a common issue at carveries. There were many toddlers and children in high chairs, which was a good sign. I didn't have to worry about my son causing a disturbance. I will definitely return to Toby Carvery. Thank you.
so this is where we went for our date night. its real close to the hotel we were at and you can walk down to it from the novotel. now again i would say avoid the place on wembley event days. they do european and british food, pretty good cooking and they have options for kids to eat too. Why would they sprinkle the dumplings with cheese? And look st the amount of fat I had. I didn’t realise they put cheeses on eat otherwise I would have asked without. The filling with mushroom and truffles was good. Maybe they should ask the client if they want cheese on top. :
