The Vineyard Rose At South Coast Winery

We have been to the restaurant a number of times including several to celebrate our anniversary. Mark was our server once again and made the night perfectly paced for a special occasion. The service is consistently excellent, the prices comparable to the area, and the atmosphere echos the wine country location. Mixed drinks are well crafted, a fair pour, and the wine list has something to cover most interests including a selection of South Coast wines by the glass. The food, from the calamari appetizer to the main courses of braised short ribs and truffle Alfredo linguini, came in sufficient quantity, were properly cooked, and were properly seasoned with well-prepared sides. We went to South Coast for lunch. The first disappointment was the wine. For a winery, our selection was limited and it was served in a cheap-looking wine glass. My wife ordered a Caesar salad, which lacked shaved Parmesan and croutons. I ordered a cold cut panini, which had very little meat - just a slice of meat and a few slices of salami. I had to redistribute the meat to make one decent half, but it still wasn't satisfying.

Definitely not our best dining experience here for dinner. My wife ordered the halibut which she liked. Two of us ordered the short rib which was dry and tasted like a chuck roast. One of our friends got the seafood linguine which was fair to be nice. Service was better than the food. Hopefully better next time. when you spend $500 on dinner for five people, you expect better

We were there to celebrate my husband's birthday! We were seated immediately and were delighted to see that all of our special requests were acknowledged. We started with champagne and absolutely loved the salmon entree! We also appreciated the chef's personal touch of checking on each table. The ambiance has a charming rustic feel. I was not impressed with the lunch menu at this restaurant. I ordered the salmon burger and found the bun to be too large, causing the burger to fall apart. Normally, we stick to the breakfast menu, but they stop serving it from 11am-11:30am. Next time, we will have to arrive earlier to ensure we can order from the menu we prefer.

We had the server Austin who was amazing and connected well with us while we dined. He allowed us to take our time and enjoy our last first date. The food was amazing and healthy choices for us. Thank you for the continued help Austin
